I may be wrong, but I believe you can have multiple Flame Strikes up only if they are different ranks. Rank 9 and 8 are worth doing, but Rank 7 of Flame Strike is not as good as Blizzard. My “best” rotation if I am trying to screw with the Fury Warriors is to: POM-FS 9, FS 8, Mirror Image (so I don’t pull agro on 10+ mobs at once), and the Blizzard away. Icy Veins – if you REALLY want to overkill (and if you have Mirror Image out, you might as well) – is also a good one (right before POM) as it speeds everything up nicely.

As you mentioned, the question then becomes “Do I re-stack the Flame Strikes or just keep Blizzarding?” I also use the 50% health mark to help determine that, but if we have a lot of AoE (hunters, warriors, whatever) going on then I just stick with Blizzard.

As soon as it looks like the mobs are about to die, I target the highest health mob and start doing an Arcane Blast – no point wasting Blizzard channeling when the mobs are dead.

I have been trying to get my dps up since changing to the newer gear. It seems that my lowby sets gave me better dps. I have been tossing back and forth from fire to arcane. I use the rotations you all have mentioned here and my dps is still low. Needless to say, I get ribbed for my low dps and told to delete my mage. I was told that mage and hunter were the easiest classes in the game to play….maybe I can only do complicated toons….

damn shooda read more closely, so yea i agree with Matac pyro is the way to go for fast fs blizz combo.

Yea I’ve been using FS and Blizz for a while since i cood use both i think. but heres something i dont know if you said so or not but if your specced Pyro you get the talent Firestarter which makes your next FS insta cast after a blastwave or dragons breath. i usually use one of those (glyphed myself with a blast wave glyph to get rid of the knockback dont want extra mobs pulled) to start the fight off then FS-Blizz and a few others if their not dead yet.

Don’t forget the that the talent Firestarter allows to to get a mana-free instant cast flamestrike whenever Dragon’s Breath or Blastwave hits.

So if you know where your tank is going to be stand close-ish, hit preferably Dragon’s breath (No knock-back) then your free instant cast FS then another FS and finally Blizzard on top. 4 AOE’s with 2 of them being instant.
Works extremely well if you line up some living bombs to go off just as you are casting blizzard.

My personal favorite in 5-man heroics, once I know I have a tank that can handle the outrageous amount of threat I am about to generate, is to spread out 2-3 Living Bombs (preferably on the mobs not being focused) before I begin the Flame Strike / Blizzard combo. If all goes according to plan the Living Bombs begin chain bursting just as I am dropping Blizzard.

It’s a good thing.

I have actually found higher dps using potency, FS, then blizz, as the FS is ticking away at the same time right from the start and both get the benefit of arcane potency..
