Bubble Hearths For Everyone

If you know Lawbringer at all (especially from the Dominate guilds) you know that I absolutely loath pvp. Yes, I know it makes me weak and inferior to Fonze and the Dudes and all that yadda-yadda. Whatever, I can live with the big fat monster gaping empty hole in my game. It’s just not gonna happen. I have no desire and certainly not enough time to learn all the nuances of that part of the game. I’ll just stick with making a ton of gold and being a go-to healer for everything else.
Since I do dislike PvP so adamantly it pained me to level my last two characters on a pvp server. Nothing breaks the flow of a good leveling session than being ganked 5 times in Stranglethorn because some lvl 80 is running around getting his kicks knocking off all the level 40’s. Seriously, go arena or whateveritis you folks do. It’s an even bigger waste of time to try to “teach them a lesson” and go get your 80 to spank them as this normally becomes an all-out zone war.
So for the most part I just go do something else and let the pvp goobers duke it out while I do something resembling constructive. This is all tongue-in-cheek of course. I have nothing against you if you love pvp, it’s just not my cup of tea. So anything that keeps me from having to deal with it is a very nice cup of tea that I enjoy greatly. Which brings us to the following tip.
It’s one of those teeny tiny little bits that’s not going to change the way you play wow, and most of you will be relatively unimpressed. But it’s a cool little loophole that might save you an hour or two while leveling on a pvp server, or any time after that for that matter. It’s cheap, convenient and gives you an almost paladin-like bubble hearth that is pretty effective.
It’s not QUITE as good as a bubble, since you can’t just stand there with folks hammering away at your invulnerablness while you get your hearth cast off. So technically NOT a true bubblehearth, but it’s as close as you’re going to get without being a paladin.
We’ll call it the HideNhearth, and it will only work if you are out of combat. So it’s not going to save you from being one shot if you’ve already been targeted by that level 80, but it will certainly completely eliminate the chain ganking corpse camping scenario. You don’t even have to have blazing fast timing or reflexes, just a short stack of potions and your hearthstone on a hot key somewhere.
Here’s how it works:
- Pop a Potion of Lesser Invisibility
- Hearth
- Get on with your day
Couldn’t be easier. You see, the lesser invisibility potion is not broken by the hearthstone cast, such as mage invisibility, Night elf Shadowmeld, or Rogue Vanish and Stealth. There is no other “hide and hearth while you are hiding” skill in the game. All you can do under other forms of stealth is – hide, and maybe run around a bit. Shadowmeld doesn’t even allow you to do that.
All the above skills WILL drop you out of combat, and that is important here. You can’t go under the effects of Lesser Invis potion in combat, so if you’re already targetted you’re left with the “run like a sissy” option and hope they just leave you alone. But if you are already dead, you can just hit the potion as you rez and hearth and leave your potential corpse camper sitting around or a while waiting on something that aint gonna happen. Which I like – you waste my time, I waste yours.
The really funny thing about this tip is that I took my banking toon – Auctionear – out to try to get a decent screenshot for this, but unfortunately being under the effects of invis make for a sorry screenshot. I was going to run over to a Horde hot spot and try to show this in action, and while I was on my way to Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula some level 80 guy named “Uwilldie” (undead rogue) flew over and dismounted right next to me. Level 68 DK vs T9/10 rogue, no way. I’m trying to MAKE gold on this guy not going for repair bills. So I pop a potion and hearth – doesn’t get more real and in-game relevant than that. I had to chuckle about how much I might have used it leveling my mage. You’ll forgive me for not having a crummy screenie.
The potions should be pretty cheap, and you probably won’t use this technique too often, which makes it an inexpensive way to buy back some time and less frustration. It’s not exactly what you might call Dominating, but it is a useful tip and thanks to Beastarro for sending it to us at editor@dominateyourserver.com At the very least it’s worth one slot in your bags and a “where the heck did so-and-so go” every now and then when you’re bored.

First! (maybe)
Sounds usefull, I’ll probably be using it alot in the future
I have been following you guys for a long time, love the articles…but this…i can only shake my head in bemusement. 2 minutes of my life i can never get back….
PvP deaths deal no durability dmg to your gear. The only durability dmg you take is from the strike itself- not the death. The durability loss taken from a ganker is just like getting beat up by an at-lvl mob.
But yes, those random gankers tick me off too. I hope Blizz gets rid of that w/ the instanced terrain in Cataclysm.
I’m leaning towards quests that phase you out of a zone, or once you hit lvl X you become uninstanced. That way people at-lvl in the zone can help and pvp each other, but farmers and pvp junkies won’t be splattering lowbies.
That would be great except for when you want your high lvl friend to come help you with a difficult quest. Or you are questing with a friend and both of you are near the phasing cap, all of a sudden he dings and disappears then you are forced to finish the rest of the level by your self because he’s in a different phase.
Also if it’s really that big of a deal for you then don’t roll on a PVP server, that’s what the normal servers are for.
when theyre corpse camping u, sometimes the only way to get away is take rez sickness and THAT costs durability
You see, it’s people like you who bring down games like WoW. You hope Blizzard gets rid of ganking, well quick fix for you, don’t play on a PVP server. If you are and getting ganked, that’s your fault, it happens, get over it. If you’re getting yourself flagged, your fault again…you see where I’m going with this!?! It’s in your control but you choose to do nothing about it. If you want the option of deciding when you’re flagged or not, there are servers for that, they’re called “normal” and “rp” so pick one, IDK, but don’t QQ about it anymore.
Phew! I’m not the only one who avoids PvP like the plague!
This is why I moved to Alliance Fenris a year ago. I was just tired of the ganking. I’d never had rolled pvp to begin with if I wasn’t brand new at the time and didn’t have a friend there offering to help and give me gold.
With the server switching allowed now, I’d just as soon blitz to 80 on a non-pvp server than deal with the trouble. However, if it’s a matter of money, I guess that’s another story. In either case, it’s a cool trick. Might even come in handy in battleground matches from time to time.
hmm. im gonna have to try this out… cuz with a rogue and druid stealth/prowk… all lvl 80 players can see me at lvl 68.. and they can still target me…….. lesser invis makes you invisible to them? even with the level difference?
Leveling to 80 is kind of a like a right of passage for alot of players. I did it once and probably never will again, but its nice to know that you made it the hard way.
As for instanced terrain and grouping with hi level friends, a simple fix would be to allow buddy listed or guild members to share the same terrain space the same as you would a party or raid. Course that raises the question on how exactly would the system work. I’m a big fan of the auto chicken from WAR, you go running around in a zone more than 1 tier behind you and you turn into a 10hp chicken mob.
I would love to see lv 80 100hp Murlocs running around trying to gank people.
That is a great article, I don’t pvp and feel the same way you do that its not my cup of tea. An article like that makes you feel more like a friend that a great Dominate your Server colum writer. Or maybe I have been reading so many of the colums and things that it feels that way. I could sure use a article on a holy pally (hint hint) I play pve I like to help others I have the duel spec holy/def , I don’t get a lot of time to play like I would like to but I do my best. It really pains me that the holy pally just is not what they use to be. What kind of haste or what do I need to do to make the holy pally fun again. I can heal a heroic VH no trouble and get lucky with some others, or maybe I’m getting to old and grumpy. No that can’t be true, because my best friend who plays is pushing 66 and he is versitile and plays many different toons. But I’m a pally man I have one of each class and only enjoy playing the pally or did till I turned into Sir Cant-healalot…. What can I do to make healing fun again [Mana pool 19k Bonus heal 2100 can you help me before I’m old and bald from pulling out all my hair… because if I pull out my hair its over I’ll be old and bald…
Nice plan. And if you have Vanish or Shadowmeld you can get out of combat instantly to pop the potion too. Only downside may be the odd warlock or random “Detect invisibility” kind of buff (most wouldnt bother, but some collect buffs like stamps) who will still gank you.
Hellfire is a huge hotspot for 80 gankers, they cant pass up the chance to beat up low levels. Regularly like the 60 PvP there for those with XP off, capping forts and small fights, then an 80 will turn up and destroy all the fun. Normally I then gank them back with my kitty whos normally prowling nearby, maybe corpsecamp a couple of times (marking the kitty territory obviously) before expecting a mass swarm of 80s from those crying. After that, theres little use but to log off and do something else.
hehe now you see why i came to fenris law after 3 1/2 years on an allie pvp server getting ganked by horde i love fenris i still watch my back in stv now on my 80s lol all i can say is stop sodding about on pvp come home for some dominating ICC anibow
TOO ALL THOSE WHO DON’T LIKE GANKERS…..
Get over it, it is part of the game. If you don’t like it then go to pve server or something like that.
To Gankers: might as well say Murder is part of life. it shouldn’t be, and ganking someone who has no ability to fight back and messing their plans is the action of a coward. You should wonder why you get such pleasure, and when you realize the reason, feel sad for your life.
well. if i was to gank the only reason i would do it is because iv had it done to me, so i would just sit in the area i died most and kill all the oposing factions players. just to get abit of revenge.
Do you mean Lesser Invisibility Potion?

I think of it more as the gaming gods telling you to take a break.
Don’t sweat it, don’t worry, go microwave some popcorn and watch the moron gank your poor helpless body for awhile. Since most of them have the patience of a fly they’ll go swarm over some other smarmy corpse in 5 – 10 minutes.
Stretching exercises also helpful.
Oh yeah, and on locks, detect invisibility, I suppose is useful somewhere, I generally pass it out so it’s one of the first things that get debuffed. Consume shadows if you have a VW. Don’t know if either of those is any good against the potion you indicate.
Hmm… ill have to try and keep a stack of these pots in my bags for lvling my alts, I dislike having to be involved in pvp when i dont want to and i would roll on a non pvp server but its boring and most of my friends are pvp lovers…./sigh Thx for the great tip this should help both my time and my budget.
-Chillroar of Fenris
I don’t mind pvp’ing against another character that’s in the same level bracket as my character however, the chain ganking, corpse and grave camping by characters (esp. lvl 80’s) really ticks me off. I have several friends who, although they like pvp, never finshed their trial versions and won’t because of this problem. I think Blizzard should introduce a Rep penalty for ganking characters outside of your lvl range. Let’s say – 15k rep with all factions/cities for every 10 lvl’s difference. That would mean that an 80th who ganks a 14th (which happens a lot) would loose up to 105k in rep with each and every home city/faction and become hated with them and have to earn all that rep back again. Maybe that would stop a lot of the frustration.
ps. They really need to de-nurf the rouge class.
What would stop a lot of the frustration is if people like you would just over the fact, that it’s part of the game. If you don’t like it, don’t play it or choose a normal or rp server. No reason we should all suffer because of a few individuals who QQ too much. I’ve leveled several toons on a PVP server and although I hated getting ganked, I knew I wasn’t going to be that level forever and would eventually be able to get them back. Most of the people that did gank me at some point or another, I got revenge by killing/camping them later in bg’s, world PVP, etc. so it’s all gravy. I like your idea of losing rep with each and every home city/faction. If Blizzard did that for every time one of you cry babies complained to them about insignificant issues, most of you would ALREADY be hated with your own factions.
