Just so you know there are some addons that do a automated guild lotto, I know our guild uses it to great success, but I dont know the name of the addon because our guild leader isn’t on atm.

Nice idea.

I quit not long ago but before I did I announced to my guild that I was quitting raiding due to time constraints (Uni) but I’d be happy to take on the role of guild treasurer.

Mainly because I was severly tired of wow but the only thing I was still interested is playing the auction house (thanks in no small part to DYS’s auction house mastery guide.)

I because a one man source of funds and supplies for the guild and basically had a constant supply of 3 of each TOP level enchant scroll in the bank (yes even weapons) as well as loads of fish feasts, flasks and random things like belt buckles and shield plating and lets not forget the epic gems.

Aside from that the rest of my profits were dumped directly into the bank for raid repairs. What can I say, I’m a generous person. I was well loved by the guild and our members were very well looked after. (a raid finishes, member has 3 or 4 upgrades, runs straight to the bank and has them all enchanted and gemmed up for free.

Then I quit. I wonder how things are going these days..

It really is important to have good leadership. I’ve been in a guild (probably oldest on my server) for around 5 years now, and have been through the end of vanilla, all of BC and all of Wrath so far. We are now on our third guild leader, the second I know personally. We have had 300 people for around 2 years now and It is no mean feat to get that organized for raids, bank, etc.

Back to topic: We normally just run on donations to the bank and I go through every week and remove the trash, re-organize and generally put it back into some sembalance of order. We don’t really have much cash but we are well stocked with gems, enchant and other mid-level mats that people will put in when they don’t have a use for them.

If mats are what your after (and we have done this) pick a diffrent type of mats each week, and for each stack donated to the bank you get x amount of entries.
you can break it down if several mats are needed, and a stack of frost lotus should be worth more entries than a stack of icethorn. this way your not taking your hard earned guild gold and buying mats. We averaged over 7k per week in mats kept 2k worth and made flasks and such and used the week to trickle the rest back on the AH. prize is 5k and the bank keeps any over profit. The person putting mats back on ah must be a Dominate AHer. We did 5k because we had enough to do it, without fear of a loss.
