Getting A Low Level Character To Booty Bay In Stranglethorn Vale

So there I was 53 minutes and 17 corpse runs into my attempts to get an Alliance character to Booty Bay, just about to give up the whole idea when a guildie heard my plea on Vent and mentioned this tiny tidbit … It was so good that I can’t help but share it with you folks. Ok, I exaggerate a bit. But if you’ve ever tried to get all the way to Booty Bay before level 20 you know it can be a bear – or at least a monkey.
There is a really good reason why I wanted a low level toon in Booty Bay, but you’re going to have to wait for that part. But this tip is so good it couldn’t wait at all and I didn’t want it getting buried in the reason I was trying to get to Stranglethorn in the first place.
You can use this technique to get just about anywhere between Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms at even level 1 with absolutely no worries whatsoever, and you’ll be moving faster to boot – so here is the killer low level travel tip from the folks in the Dominate guild.
(This is certified to be working as of Patch 3.1.3)
As a side note – it’s not that we forgot about the horde (they can use this too)it’s just that when it comes to getting to Booty Bay, the Horde have it easy: Orgrimmar to Ratchet and on to Booty Bay. But for the Alliance … Good Grief! … until now. . .
So here’s how this goes:
- Create a Human (shortest distance to run from start zone)
- Die (Yes … get killed, anywhere will do)
- In spirit form (50% speed increase) Walk/Run south, out of Elwynn Forest, across Duskwood (you can even run on the river between Westfall and Duskwood if you want) and down to Stranglethorn Vale.
- Stand next to the Spirit Healer outside of Booty Bay (if you follow the road you can’t miss her)
- Log out and exit the game while still dead
- Log back in and accept the rez (No sickness because you’re level 1 ) It seems that exiting the game resets the location of your body to the closest Spirit Healer
Now you can get your new level 1 character almost anywhere in Azeroth in record time. This is just as valid for the Horde as it is for Alliance. You can get your level 1 Tauren to Orgrimmar if you like, or your Night Elf to Ironforge faster then you ever could before. No more begging for a portal, or trying to buy an escort.
Here is why this particular trick comes in handy in one word: Arbitrage
Now that you know, Get out there and DOMINATE.

Double post?
Whoops, no. 2 links to this post were sent*
um i have a much easier way and you will never die. Simply swim from Westfall to Booty Bay. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Yeah, that’s what I was about to say too. I was doing that 3 years ago when I first started playing. Back then, I took my very first level 20 toon and swam to BB to buy the fishing book.
I then decided to let him stay there, since I found I could buy the book for 1g and sell it on AH for 5g, and sell 2 or 3 every day. That was my first experience with gaming the AH.
Not sure how that is easier. Dying as a level 1 is pretty easy. Running in spirit form is faster – and very easy. Logging out for 5 seconds; pretty easy. Taking a spirit rez . . .easy. Your way is longer and only takes into account Booty Bay. What if you wanted to get somewhere else? Can you swim everywhere?
That will be 5k for the tip please.
And umm yea swimming?? lol My way is much faster, no doubt about it. Swimming doesn’t even come close to corpse running.
Next – tell us how to get a level 1 to Shattrath
/2 WTB PORT TO SHAT, 10G
The link to Arbitrage is linking to here, STV post.
Getting a Night Elf to IF is easy. Take the boat the SW and then take the train to IF. I have used the spirit rez tip before, but I don’t recall having to log out to get a spirit rez.
Quick tip for Horde. You actually don’t even have to do the whole Orgrimmar trip. You can go up the “secret path” near where the shaman totem quest starts in Valley of Trials and then go down and die to a level 19 or so clacker down in the water. You’ll appear at the Ratchet graveyard.
I thought this was *Arbitrage Made Easy* but it took me here. I really wanted to read that one.
I once took a level 1 tauren to the dorf/gnome starting area, and another to the nelf starting area, and another to Silithus, and another to the far south of Winterspring, and another to the Portal to the Burning Crusade…
I must be a masochist, because I died a couple dozen times each time (and got to level 3 on area discoveries alone). Actually, I must be a sadist, because I got a dozen or two guildies to try it out again as part of a contest for a nice pile of gold. I called it “Running of the Bulls.” It’s amusing to watch a herd of level 1 bulls go running across zones they have no business being in, each frequently saying “Moo!” as they run. And having a dozen lowbie tauren dancing in a moonwell in Teldrassil is disconcerting to all the new nelfs in the zone.
On the subject of lowbies in enemy starter zones, is there a list of opposite faction graveyards available for those zones, like Horde in Teldrassil, for example. Because that can be a bugger of a run up and through the tree. easier if we die somewhere and use this tool to get even our highbies into those areas, especially for those that dont like giving away HK’s.
Also be good for a lowbie Fire Festival Flame run to all enemy faction fires.
Nelfs everywhere are crying, wishing this had been here back in the days of the Wetlands->IF->SW runs…
Just to be clear how easy it is for Horde… from the spot where your Orc or Troll character is “born”, just head around behind the huts. There is a (well-named) “Secret Path” that you follow up into the hills. Go over the hills and you drop into the bay just east of Ratchet. It’s just a matter of swimming over to Ratchet, climbing onto the dock, and grabbing the boat to Booty Bay. Just be careful of the lobstermen that swim around in Ratchet’s harbor; they pinch.
WHY?
Why Zynx asks? Cause ally/horde will pay big bucks for the opposite faction argent tournament pets. Transfer and sell on one side or the other, quick and easy profits = dominate.
One thing, if u know people in high places(friendly people) that have the chopper or one of the mammoth mounts they can just take you, and yes i do know only a few can get this privilege but still some people might forget that they can do this now days
This is what happens when Law renames an article by one of our other writers. The arbitrage one is coming, but you’ll have to wait another day or two. I decided it was better to separate the low level info from the more complex stuff instead of doing it all in one place.
Been trying this is Dolanaar to get flame and it’s not working.
It didn’t work for me, i don’t know why… First, i made a human, then i killed myself, after I ran all the way to the booty bay Spirit healer, and then I pressed the exit game button. When I came back on and spirit rezzed, i went all the way back to Elwynn Forest. Any help?
The only difference with what we tried is that we logged out first, exited the game, then restarted the whole application.
This is only supposition but perhaps the exit game command doesn’t disable certain internal timers???
I think i’ll try it again, but with the log out button.
It does seem to require using the “Log Out” button to work properly. Got a report from a guildie last night who said it worked just fine when he did so.
Thanks for the response guys, it worked just fine when I used the log out button.
This no longer works as of Patch 3.2
Yes it does. I just took my level 2 banker from Exodar, took the boat to Auberdine (which means you can zone while dead) ran up to the spirit healer north of Auberdine and loged out. I logged right back in, took the rez and poof there I was in Darkshore and not back on Azuremyst Isle. Nothing has changed, you’re just not following the steps properly.
1. Die
2. Go to the nearest spirit healer to where you want to be.
3. Use the “Log Out” button
4. Log back in and take the Rez
Hard to get much easier than that, easy to get a lot harder.
I knew this post was not true folks, but you should know that we don’t filter our comments much for this very reason. We’re not afraid of bad information, flames, and people telling us our tips don’t work. We even take the detractors seriously enough to go and retest things from time to time. If a post turns out to have lost its usefulness we will either update it or remove it when we find fatal flaws, and most of the flaws come about as a result of changes in the game, not bad information on our part. Nothing lasts forever, especially in this game, but if you really Dominate, you have a chance – follow our lead and you just may get there.
Confirmed still works as of today 8-29-09. Log out button, log back in, res.
Still works as of 3/3/2010
Still works as of 5/11/2010
