Easy Achievements In Wrath of the Lich King
Posted on June 2nd, 2009 by Lawbringer under General TipsWe try to do one of these every week, and some of them seem a little too obvious – like this one. But it might save you a tiny bit of time here and there, so here goes.
We’ve seen all kinds of places to try to get the achievement Going Down. Some of them are better than others, and we’re sure you guys will chime in with other spots in the thread. But there is an absolutely foolproof spot for this one, and it’s easy to combine with another achievement while you’re at it.
The catch here is that you’ll need your cold weather flying training. But if you do it where we suggest you can also knock out Ultimate Triage at the same time. No use running all over the world for each achievement, especially when you can double up on them.
Now, when it comes to Ultimate Triage we have to be honest that the very best way to do that one is to just duel someone and lose. You’ll end the duel with 1% health. Bandage yourself with Heavy Frostweave Bandage and you’re done. But you can do this one any time you or another person is below 5%.
The fall from our prime location will put you at about 3% health, so it will work as well. Our can’t fail spot is on a platform above the flight path at Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight. Just fly out there, hop on your flying mount and go straight up. You’ll pass the platform in a few seconds. After that it’s just dismount, walk off right back toward the flight master, bandage when you land and boom – 20 points.
You can see from our screenshot above exactly where this platform is, and our potential victim preparing to take the plunge. Now most people get this one accidentally at some point on the way to lvel 80. But if for some odd reason you haven’t fallen down yet we thought it would make a good tip.
The precise location of the platform is (59.7,51.8) in Dragonblight, and you might want to refrain from jumping, just walk off the edge. No need to catch any extra air here. So go grab 20 points and we’ll see you next week for another way to Dominate a couple of achievements.

As talked about, i’ve gotten this achievement on all my characters well before level 77, by accident somehow during leveling. This advice would have been a lot more helpful if it outlined a location that was easily accessible from lower-levels. Maybe no such known location exists, but still….would be useful.
you can jump off the scryer tier, and as long as you miss the ramp that goes to the elevator and land on the slightly lower platform you will get it. For all levels except draenei. Also helps with a mount…i actually haven’t tried it without one so….but its easier and sooner done than lvl 80 in northrend.
My favorite spot is off of the Scryers elevator in Shattrath. When the elevator is at the top, run and jump off of the edge of the elevator at an angle, aiming for the lowest level to the side of the elevator platform, not the walkway the elevator usually stops at. Good times!
I’ve gotten the achievement jumping out of the sewer opening in Undercity. It’s not foolproof as you have to jump over the slime and hit the dock on the other side. It’s hit or miss but you can certainly do it at a very low level. Oh, note to the author: “on accident”? You’re making my ears bleed.
I got the Going Down achievement the first day of the opening of Stormwind Harbor. I walked into the newly unveiled harbor and promptly walked right off the upper level in my awestruck wonder! I got the Ultimate Triage achievement in a BG after suffering huge amounts of DOT, and tried to bandage just as my health dropped below 5%. I didn’t even know there was an achievement for either one at the times I got them! Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good I guess, lol.
The first toon I did this one on was back before Wrath and I just did trial n error dismounting in midair next to the Shatt bank… all my others were accidents lol. Great advice for a fun achiev
btw… I heard a rumor from a friend that achievement points will eventually act as currency for special items of some sort… anyone else heard this or know if it has any/no truth behind it? Just curious…
Blizzards current response is that it will not happen. Of course, theres also no way that PvE to PvP server transfers will ever happen either. No chance at all….
my personal hope is that achievement points will be able to “qualify” you for stuff, much like an arena rating. So if you have 2000, you can only buy stuff from this vender…but those who have OVER 9000!!! can buy from vender X over there
I normally go for this achievement at about level 63 when I first hit shatt. Do the outrageously dull tour, hit scryers to hand in the allegiance thing and check you’re on 100% hp. Go to the top of the lift and look down to the right.
See that bridge with guards on? You need to MISS that and hit the floor. Probably won’t get you low enough for triage but you don’t have frostweave anyway.
I would like to see a topic on how to get the “Rapid Defense” achievement. This is in the Wrath quest tab in the achievement panel. As one of the few that has stumped me, my best tries i always seem to end up about 2-5 seconds short. There must be a trick to this one. Any class with sprint/blink would have a few second advantage to get from the questgiver to the mount…but it must be possible to be done by any class…
Balduun, Ravencrest USPvE
theres no easy way to do this.. i tried it one night with 2 people helping me out of group.. didn’t get credit and they couldn’t really keep track of what i was hitting.. so i tried again the next day with no one helping me and i got it with 2 seconds to spare!! you just have to get lucky, and it helps if no one else is there doing the quest.. more mobs to hit. use the speed boost whenever its up. and GL
also helps if you have epic flying.. stay mounted when you recieve the quest, fly to quest mount, dismount and mount the quest mount as fast as you can..
see, theres a trick to give me my 5 sec
Thanks a bunch, i never thought of staying on my mount to get the quest…i think it used to dismount you automatically.
did mine off the cliff by the wintersaber(w/e) trainer in winterspring on my rogue- not sure if other classes can do a non-fail there since I have safe fall and it’s glyphed.
other chars have got it thru a glitch in gnomer, shat falling, and as you said- many more varied accidents.
There are two places for lower levels that I know work. The bridges in Haala (sp?) drop further than you need, but if you do it right, you will land in water…note to shaman, make sure you dont have water walk buff on…lol. Also, in Feralas, just by the beach, there is another such bridge, and its just high enough. I used this jump as a shortcut all the time and thus got the achievement by mistake. I have also heard of guildies doing it in a particular place in Stormwind…not certain where it is, but I can find out if you really must know…
I did it the other day with my level 12 lock in Elwynn Forest. Up by the lake just south west of Stormwind there is a raised area populated by Defias. If you head to the back, in the direction of Westfall you come to the top of a waterfall. I fell down there and got the achievement, completely by accident.
So there you go – it is possible to get the achievement, but if you don’t believe me, check out my armory here: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-achievements.xml?r=Argent+Dawn&cn=Pumpk%C3%ADn&gn=Heroes+of+Old
I did this one in Grizzly Hills where all the good Earth Giants are. I was throwing boulders at iron dwarfs and fell for some reason and didn’t die. The achievement popped up and someone in my guild said LOL. Yeah, its funny I fell and all my health is almost gone. Ha ha. But I got the achievement I didn’t know existed.
good info
sorry to change the subject i like to know about ur leveling guide i was looking around the net for info and didnt find any like what style is it tourguide or like a zygor style
I got this achievement on my druid when I was about… level 11? Just jump off of the Zeppelin in UC and, if you time it correctly, you’ll land a bit below the level of the Tower and a bit above the spot that will kill you.
There is one spot that u can go to too achieve this achievement as well as long as u can make it to Feralas, The Twin Colossals. There’s a quest called,
To The Top, where Marli Wishrunner teleports u tot the top of one of the colossals. The only way to safely get down is to buy a parachute from Kalin Windflight for 20s each. Buy a parachute and jump off towards the lake. Right away open up the parachute and land on the edge of the farside of the lake. Bandage up with some good ‘ol heavy frostweave and u got urself 2 achievements.
got my going down on my dreanei hunter blindly walking off the spiril entrance
havent tried ultimate triage though i assume locks with hellfire would have no prob
an easy way to get Going Down is by taking the trip from Orgrimmar to Undercity by zeppelin and jumping off the zeppelin toward the Undercity entrance when you see it…
Another way is to group with a Pally, and have them DI you as you plummet past on the way to certain death
Now I know this sounds obvious: but of course, mages can just jump off of cliffs and slow fall, or even ice block.. or even more fun, jump off of a cliff and blink 10 yards or so before the ground. On another, less obvious note, the warriors can also use the blink tactic with their charge, it works especially well in AB, jump off of the Gold Mine cliff and charge an opposing player, you will take no fall damage at all and get the achievement.
There’s also another spot to get “Going down”.
In Shattrath, if your on the scryer territory heading to the elivator, turn and fall off the little cliff to the right of it.
Oh, and theres no need to have any sort of special ability. Just jump off.
