The Real Secret Of Making Gold Fishing Here

Sorry about the delay the last few days.  Sometimes real life gets in the way of my play time.  This is sort of work, but not so much that it gets old.  But now we’re back and I’ve got another good gold-making tip for you.

Several of you mentioned fishing as a great money-maker in the thread of our last article about farming for the Damaged Necklaces.  Of course, this is true, but it’s not exactly news considering I said exactly the same thing back in January in this article about Making Gold With Cooking.

However, even though fishing was mentioned as a requirement to maximize profits in that particular article, I didn’t mention a specific fish or recipe to use in conjunction with all those Northern Spices you should be stockpiling.  So that’s what we’ll do today.

Now, the bigger overall point is that if you play a LOT, there is a way to spend your time that maximizes your overall efficiency.  We’ll get to that more tomorrow, but for now, just know that this fishing spot and the farming location we will mention in a few days might just be something you want to do for about 30 minutes every day.

You see, it’s not really all that great to go farm yourself into boredom once a week for hours on end.  If you want to add to your gold per day earnings the most efficient way to do that is to add a little farming every day.  Not a huge bunch of farming once or twice a week.  But again, more on this tomorrow.

For today, just know that you need to find your way down to Lake Indu’le at 41,66 just a little North and West of Moa’ki Harbor in Dragonblight.  The great thing about this spot is that you will never miss a fish in the lake with just 475 fishing, which is a simple matter of maxxed fishing and a Nat Pagle’s pole for +25.  No lures, no need for all the fishing gear in the world.

Now, the reason for Lake Indu’le is that there are basically only 3 fish that spawn there, and all of the schools are the kind we want.  We are going there for Dragonfin Angelfish.  We want those almost more than anything else because they are primarily found in pools, don’t have a lot of pool spawns, and the recipe we want to use Dragonfin Filet only uses one at a time and sells really well.

Dragonfin Filet sells well because it’s the only level 70 required food buff out there for Stam+Str.  Odd thing is, Str+Stam is still a wanted combo, so it gets a better price on our server than Blackened Dragonfin and only uses up one fish for each one.  For the math challenged that means I can make twice as much money if I cook the former rather than the latter.  For the reading challenged that means make filets and not blackened, it’s good-er.

So we went and fished there for an hour to see what we could find out about this nice little sweet spot.  As I mentioned the only fish you are going to get are Dragonfin Angelfish, Muscleback Sculpin and Bonescale Snapper.  Oh, and a few stacks of Pygmy Suckerfish of course.  Throw in a crate or four and at the end of an hour I had 97 Angelfish, 80 Suckerfish, 6 Sculpin, and 28 Snappers.  Toss in 8 Crystalized Water, 7 Borean Leather Scraps and 2 Cobalt ore from crates.

The Angelfish became Dragonfin Filet X97 worth around 611 Gold.  The Snappers are worthless when cooked but should sell raw for about 15g.  The Sculpin became Grilled Sculpin with a value of 22g, and we’ll blow out the suckers for half price (just to be rid of them) about 40g.

Total Haul for the hour = 688 gold.  Well over our goal of 500g per hour, and better than kill grinding for the necklace.  I would much rather fish, and this makes a great spot to fish, especially if you are a priest or DK and can stay in the middle of the water just waiting on pool spawns.

The Angelfish Schools are what make this place work.  There seem to be about 8 spawn points for the schools, and if you are there by yourself you will hardly ever run out of schools before another one spawns.  Longest wait in an hour for a pool to spawn = 27 seconds.  Just enough time to get off two regular casts into open water before I was running to the next pool.

Since there is only one quest in Lake Indu’le, and two in the general vicinity, you will normally find the lake full of mobs and empty of players competing for the fish.  But it’s one of the best places to get Angelfish with rapid spawn timers on the schools.  Add in the fact that hardly anyone ever fishes there and you’ve got a winner.

So you might consider popping over to Dragonblight for 30-45 minutes next time you’re just twiddling your thumbs waiting for raid members to show up or WG to start.  It’s a pretty Dominating way to fish just a tiny bit and make some pretty serious gold in the process.
