Gavin Garrett’s Auction House Mastery Guide
Posted on December 10th, 2008 by Lawbringer under General TipsOne of the biggest changes in WotLK is that Blizz decided to give us about a hundred new gold sinks. There were Nether Drakes soaring through the skies within a few hours of the rep chain for those suckers in Burning Crusade, but you still won’t see a hundred of the Tundra Woolly Mammoth mounts around. Why? Because even for pros, 20,000 gold is nothing to sneeze at. And there are lots of other goodies you can get for gold that have very little to do with rep any more.
For more than four years, Gavin Garrett has been mastering the process of making gold in WoW. He’s made it such an art form that it’s almost automatic these days. A few clicks of the mouse, and poof, piles of gold. Sound too good to be true? For most players it is. Making gold is no easy thing until you have the right tools and the right knowledge to use them. And now, Gavin Garrett is going to reveal his gold-making secrets to you.
When we began writing this guide, we knew we had to really knock your socks off. Gold-making guides are everywhere and they are all pretty much the same thing. Most of them are a Bagillion pages of “hey Farm Copper In Durotar!”
Laughable. Sure, they are silly long and contain every map in the game and have some goofy farming routes penciled in there. But honestly, if you can’t figure out how to fly between possible mining nodes using a mod like gatherer you might as well give up and buy gold from a professional gold farmer.
Really, if we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: farming is for people with more time than skill. OK, in WotLK there are some opportunities to sell mats that you might take a little time to farm, but you probably can’t apply our marketing principles to them yet with prices being at eye-gouge level after wrath.
In a few weeks when sanity returns and your profits drop what will you do then? Keep running around like a fool? Or will you finally decide to go billy-bad-arse on people and make some serious dough?
I know of a guy who spent more than 5 hours mining the new Saronite and Titanium nodes in Northrend. His total haul for all that work = 1,500 gold. Not bad, you might say. Until you know that Gavin spent about 10 minutes looking at what was REALLY making big bucks, spent 20 minutes crafting (you’re not going to believe this one) Netherweave Bags, and sold 80 of them in less than 10 hours – all for about 10g a pop (Death Knights need new bags folks – that tip is free). Throw in a couple more moves like that, and in less than 1 hour of work he made even more than the guy farming new ores. So which do you think sounds better: 5 hours for 1,500 gold, or 1 hour for 2,000?
When YOU are ready to join the ranks of the truly DOMINATING gold-makers, you really need to take a look at Gavins’ Auction House Mastery Guide.
Here Are A Few Of The Things You Get In Gavin Garrett’s Auction House Mastery Guide:
- How to get stuff to sell at more than 100% below market price – This makes the guide worth more than the price all by itself. You can use this technique to snatch all the hottest sellers and double your investment while you are sleeping.
- When to buy and when to sell – You’ll never waste another minute doing anything that isn’t making you the most amount of gold for the least amount of effort and time.
- Pricing tricks – our strategies are so advanced we have them on auto pilot, imagine never having to manually price another item again and NEVER getting the price wrong!
- How to get ahead of the market and push prices up, up, and up – It’s one thing to make steady gold, but do you know how to make your profit margins always increase?
- The very BEST sellers on ANY server – and it’s NOT BoE epic and other high end stuff; you’ll be shocked to find out the secret item type that will make you more gold than any other.
- How to manage hundreds, even thousands of auctions every day and spend less than 2 hours a week doing it! There is no way humanly possibly to make this much gold this fast any other way.
- How to know precisely which crafted items you can sell, DE or vendor for a profit no matter how much the market changes. That’s right, you can keep track of thousands of crafted items in any profession on any of your toons. Be making serious gold in just minutes.
- NO MORE FARMING! Never again will you feel like bashing your face through your screen when that punk hits the Titanium node you were running to. You will be making gold the farmer can only dream of right away.
This is NOT just another gold-guide. This is the only gold guide you will ever see that is based entirely on working the AH and nothing else. Sure, you can still sell the things you pick up while adventuring, but once you learn Gavin’s Insider trading secrets to working the auction house you’ll NEVER intentionally spend another minute farming another mat again as long as you play.
Gavin’s Guide Shows You:
- A simple 36 step process for complete Domination of the Auction House on your server. (Page 127)
- How to rotate your inventory to ensure maximum profits. (Page 74)
- When to take the bull by the horns and corner a market segment – this one made me more than 15,000g in just two weeks. (page 121)
- A way to double your profits from trade skills with ZERO extra effort. (Page 100)
- A method for making thousands of gold every month off of items nobody really wants. (Page 117)
I know there are lots of other gold guides out there. I’ve already seen most of them and you know what? They suck. They recommend farming, spend too much time farming in the wrong places (which makes a silly idea even worse), don’t teach you how to use the right tools in the right ways, waste your time on bad AH advice and are just flat out poorly written, and NONE of them can come close to helping make you as much gold. We have a saying here at the DYS office – “you can do the best you can, or you can be the best there is.” My Gold Guide is the best there is…

Thanks for the help with getting the guide, i got the Inscription guide too and with that i have made close to 30,000 gold WOW !!!!! Before the guide i was the guy asking all my friends on wow too give me 100g for repairs so i could go farm some more…. Not any more!!!
I just got this guide and will follow it to a T and it is working great already
thanks for the great guides guys and all that hard work you do
Hollowpoint Writes:
For anyone that is undecided about getting the Auctionhouse Mastery Guide, these are my experiences so far:
Having played almost 3 years and never once attempted to profit from the AH, I bought the guide.
Wednesday: purchased the guide and read it over
Thursday: read the guide again and downloaded mods, applied settings. I also started a bank toon with 500g. I walk myself through the to-do list.
Friday: spend 20 minutes doing more DYS magic
Saturday: another 10 minutes…
Sunday: 1200g and 240+ auctions still ticking down.
Summary – a couple hours spent over 4 days (most of which was 1-time startup stuff) and I more than doubled my investment. I’m looking forward to seeing how these techniques will allow me to dominate on a larger scale.
DYS: you’ve done it again
RofO Wrote:
1 weekend, 1500g, 300+ rolling auctions, and i haven’t even touched the enchant or green/blue/purple yet, thats just all mats.
Love the guide, I would of never figured out all this on my own. Great job guys!
Barable Said:
I had doubts about buying any guides, char lvling, gold lvling, anything, but I went ahead and bought this one and must say I’ve noticed a huge difference in my gold intake. Quite impressed and now will consider buying other guides from you!!! Keep it up and I look forward to updates and future guides.

Great guide guys ive made 400g a day easy with 50 or so auctions still pending this is the best guide so far easy simple stupid proof i like it..
Jaime Said:
Hey Gavin,
I got your AH guide about 3 weeks ago and I’m only using the DE part of it. I have managed to make over 8000g in this time. The guide is so easy to read and is the best guide I’ve spent money on. It’s nice being able to buy mats for lvl 80 epics. I can’t wait to get my lock to 80 (currently on 77). Thanks a lot Gavin – DYS rocks
And that’s just a few of the folks who’ve tried out our guide. There is no question any longer. Gavin Garrett guides are simply Dominating. And you don’t have to be a WoW expert. Even someone with limited experience in the game who doesn’t even use addons yet will be able to follow these step-by-step instructions and make more gold virtually overnight.
Even though my Auction House Mastery Guide will be the one guide you will wonder how you ever did without, we’re not charging a fortune for it. We are going to make the same deal for all of our DYS readers just like we did for the Inscription Guide and the Horde Leveling Guide.
You can get Gavin Garrett’s Auction House Mastery Guide right now for only Half Price. A FULL 50% off – only for DYS readers! The regular price for this can’t-do-without guide is $38. Great guide guys!
Lots of basic stuff, for me anyways, I’m sure this guide will help alot of players =)
Keep it up!
Just thought I would mention that you spelt Jed’s name wrong if you are referring to the Beverly Hillbillies. It’s Jed Clampet lol. I’m an avid watcher of the reruns and my last name IRL is Clampitt that’s why I know this.
Trivia fact: there is an episode where you see the mail boxes (some mail gets sent to the wrong address) and the name on the mail box that belongs to Jed is spelt Clampet.
Just thought I’d let you guys know, great guide … so far, I haven’t finished reading it yet, But I know you guys always deliver awesome content.
ROFL – boy you never know what someone will find. Thanks for the good catch, I would NEVER have found that one!
Not a Problem! I figured I should at least let you guys know, not that it’s a very common name or that many people would have even thought twice about it but I know how committed you guys are at being the best and I would hate to have a silly typo like that tarnish your record.
Just one thing to fix for the next up date to the guide lol
Is there any “trial” version? Or just a small text of the guide? Cause there are loads of different guides (which are free), which learn you how to own the Auction House with Auctioneer.
Are you owning the AH with those free guides? With a 30 day money back guarantee you can read the whole thing to find out:
#1 – Do you like it? We understand that not every guide works out for everybody.
#2 – Does it work? Work with our system and we are certain you can get similar results. If not there wouldn’t be a guarantee.
I must say i am extremely tempted by this guide but i haev some tiny problems that wont allow me from buyng it.
I have tried and tried to get AH tactics working, I have bought another guide which brought in maybe 200g profit after a week and it did offer, like yours, vast sums. I am worried that i will find a repeat situation. My AH sinks and flies at the most random times. Every server is meant to boom on friday. My server booms whenever it feels like. I wasted 1kg on cornering a market just to end with a massive bust in the market and a huge debt which i manged to scrape back. At times you get better prices off a vendor than the AH and I know you are thinking, STOCKPILE now as i originally thought but this really is a big pile of crap. I sat for 3 months on a growing pile of primals that i never auctioned and which i couldnt sell. This week the Prices of Ore on my sever went from 500g for titansteel to just 100g in a day. If i bought that titansteel the market would probably decline further. I have tried bolstering the market by buying the cheapest goods and pushing them up but my server is full of no brainers who want 100g NOW so will sell ANYTHING for 100g just to have it. I have been hugely tempted to sell my Enginnered motorbike instead of use it (i’m nearly there) but i can just see myself managing to actuall;y lose money adn then having to make money sumwhere else. The Bike will be sold for 17.5kg as i feel that is a sensible sum that the poor on my server MAY turn to but its still a really SH***y place. Will your guide accoutn for this kind of Sh** or will i end up with lost money. I am one of the people feeling the crunch of the credit and 15£ is ALOT of money atm. so i need CONFIDENCE>
Again – 30 day money back guarantee = Confidence. We have so much confidence you will be able to succeed that WE are willing to back this guide up with something solid.
Our server on the horde side is no different. It’s full of goofball under cutters and rapid price changes. That’s why the system outlined in the guide is so important. It allows us to make steady and big piles of gold no matter how weird the market is.
Plus, the portion of the guide that may help you out more than anything starts on page 117. The thing about what seems like a bad market is that there are some HUGE deals you can always score and make an even bigger profit from – but only if you know exactly what to do.
The cool thing about this guide is that you DON’T have to learn everything we know. You can apply our SYSTEM to your server and it will do the rest. It’s all in the numbers. For really bad servers consistency for yourself is the key. Sure, you are going to lose from time to time. So what we do is show you how to win a lot more often so that you never notice the few things that were outliers.
I am starting to rake in the gold now. I am making 200 to 400 gold in the four hours I am on during the morning selling inscriptions. I followed the advice to buy herbs long ago and turned them into inks and then set up the Auction house add on and NOW i have the stock and the gold is rolling in. Last week I made a little over 4000g so far this week (and it is only Tuesday) I am hitting 4500 gold,
I am not over charging any one , in fact I charge 50% UNDER THE CURRENT MARKET PRICE
and the only cost to me so far is the paper i have to buy from the vendor to inscrib what I need, I only make to order, I do not place them on the Auction house. I love the help this guide gave me and you will too if you follow the advice and stick to a plan of action. GREAT JOB GUYS Thanks
I’m still recovering from the “Inscription will make you GOLD!!! Buy herbs NOW!” advice…
(OK – some specific inscriptions will still sell, but nothing like the prices or demand I expected)
I can actually still make between 1-2k per day in glyphs if I try hard enough. The problem is there are so many glyphs that I spend about 1.5-2 hours buying mats, making inks, checking prices, and listing glyphs- and that’s with addons that help speed up the process. So it’s not really worth it to me to spend all my playtime doing this.
However, I do specifically remember that a free upgrade to the inscription guide was supposed to come out within a couple of weeks of the original, and I’ve heard no mention of that since.
The update for inscription is coming early next week. And we agree completely that it takes way too much time if you don’t have a system that makes you gold faster.
Yes, there were some servers that didn’t do all that well with inscription, but that is to be expected. However, our own server, Fenris, was quite possibly one of the worst and we still made 10k gold the first week and a half.
Once more, that’s what the Ah mastery guide is really all about. It’s how to turn chicken poop into chicken salad. Inscription on Fenris has most glyphs going in the 50s range. But last week we STILL made over 500g around the thing. WHY? Because there is a systematic and virtually foolproof way to buy, sell, and manage your stuff that always works. We NEVER worry about losing gold on our purchases.
If you are counting on one profession to do it for you you are going to do a little better than break even. You have to give yourself more options and take advantage of every market shift no matter where it leads. Our system lets us use professions because they help our toons with gear and buffs, not really for making gold – except when the timing is right.
There’s an old adage in the world of entrepreneurship. It says that if all you have is a three legged stool you don’t have much. If you lose a leg you don’t even have a stool any more. What you always want to do is find more and more and more and more and MORE – always more ways of making a little gold from this and a little gold from that until there is virtually nothing you are not making gold off of.
Even if you use the big 3, BOE greens for resale, DE, and one trade skill, that’s not enough. There are at least 2 dozen other things you can be doing that will even out any rough spots. Add more legs to your stool and then no matter how many legs fall off next week on your weird server’s market, you still have 20 that are going DING!
I noticed that you guys are making all guides you have to buy and podcasts, where are those great articles that I used to read all the time? I personally don’t like to listen to the podcasts and was wondering maybe if you can also make a written version along with that podcast that i can read instead of listening to it?
thanks, love your articles,
surgee
Actually, every podcast has had a link to a transcript of it that you can read.
OK! Great guide!! But I have a question that is going to sound like a noob. So here it is, With all the addons out there which one or ones should I use to make this money. The NEW edition of Auctioneer SUCKS!!. I used to put stuff on the AH and have it give me a fair market price for the item with a buyout price. NOW??? nothing. Any ideas? or am I just using it wrong?
Lyle, I hate to say it but we cover everything you need to know about using the new version in the guide. No, it’s not our favorite version either, but really some of the new features have the potential to make us even more gold faster than ever.
SearchUI is a big change from Bottom Scanner. You may not necessarily be using it wrong, but you might not yet have figured out how to use it properly. And it’s not super easy either. Even if you new how to navigate it well, you would still need to know how to set it and read the information it gives you.
Just go back over the section on using SearchUI and that should clear everything up for you.
I completely agree with the 2 posters above (Leeroi and Surgee.)
Inscription has been making me a decent chunk of coin, but I honestly believe that your guide inspired more people to join the inscriptionist ranks than would have, which costs me gold. The inscription guide itself wasn’t anything special, there was a free one available if you googled for it (btw, where are my free inscription guide updates?). I’m not upset though, $7 is a nominal fee for all of the FREE advice you have given in the past.
I found myself thinking the same thing as Surgee when I initially saw you advertising the inscription guide, “These guys have been giving away advice for free all this time and now they’re trying to cash in… ”
Are you losing traffic on this site? Between having to pay for advice that was free previously and having to listen to a podcast instead of being able to read an article, I would be surprised if you hadn’t lost a lot of loyal fans.
We are still posting just as many article as we ever have. In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve added several new contributors as well. Also, the podcast is available in transcript form every week. 10-12 pages full of free information.
One of the things that made Gavin want to start this site in the first place is one of the reasons he convinced me to join him here. It’s that it is so hard to find what you are really looking for when it comes to WoW information.
Sure, there are 50 million web sites that contain some line of text somewhere in them with WoW information. But it’s still very difficult to find information that is always up to date that you can trust. Don’t trust us yet? Not sure there’s much more we can do there.
For more than two years we have done our very best to provide our readers (and everybody is looking for different things) with the best balance of free advice and tips, fun stuff like the podcast (which also has 6 articles worth of information each week), and guides on the stuff you just can’t cover in a blog.
We’ve been working on the mastery guide for more than 9 months now. If you added up all the trial and error, writing and formatting it would easily total more than 1,000 hours worth of work. I’m not sure how many of you volunteer at the soup kitchen for free more than 1,000 hours a year, but it’s probably something like 1 or 2.
When we go to the Ah we expect to make gold, lots of it. When we reveal all our gold making secrets that we’ve spent years and thousands of hours developing we can also reasonably expect to be compensated for our work so that you don’t have to spend thousands of hours on your own trying to reinvent the wheel.
If there was another gold guide out there that really did the trick and was worth it we wouldn’t have released our own guide – we would just recommend one. Unfortunately there really isn’t a gold guide out there that teaches you how to become an investor – just how to be a better farmer. And some of them aren’t even very good at doing that.
If the thought of paying for good advice rankles you in some way that’s just fine. We hope you continue to visit the site for what we have that you do like. But even with that we can’t make everyone happy all the time. So we try to keep doing a little something for everybody all the time.
Also, any of you who have strong ideas about what we SHOULD be doing that would help you more, you are always welcome to become a staff writer if you think you have the chops for it. We are always looking for new contributors and ways of reaching even more of the WoW community. We’ll never be able to do it all, but we can continue to grow and add legs to our own stool here at DYS.
Lawbringer said it way nicer than i would have.
A couple of points I want to bring up for people considering whether or not to buy this guide. I bought it last night, and I can tell you – it’s over 130 pages long. The first 15 or so are fluff and intro, but the core discussion of the guide dealing with how to actually work the AH is what is useful.
I regularly work the AH using my own methods gleaned from a lot of blog reading/personal experimentation. However, the one thing I was NEVER sure of were my Auctioneer/mod settings to maximize my profit. Basically what this guide does is give you a crash course in what you need to do specifically. It also includes a lot of time savers that reduce your overall “stand-in-front-of-the-AH” time by a lot.
I have not read through it all just yet nor have I even started employing its practices, but I am 100% it will work out great for me. In response to the Inscription guide woes – remember that Mr. Silas (moneybaggins) is a real person like you or I. He wrote that guide, a leveling guide, and now an AH guide. For whatever “updates” he feels the guides need I’m sure you’ll get them free of charge as promised. But it begs the question, “What updates are you actually looking for?”
The Inscription guide delivered everything it promised. If you bought the guide the day it came out and stockpiled herbs like it said (I saved about 8800 total.) then you either made a fortune or simply did not follow the guide. I was the first 365 scribe on my server, and I made about 25K in a week and a half – which was the seed money for continuing to grow my wow wealth. But “free updates” doesn’t mean that he would /should update the guide for the next three years after every change to Inscription. It’s just not that kind of guide. It was more of a one-time thing if you want an honest opinion. The markets were just right and the all the right conditions were present for a quick and violent market boom which you either cashed in on right then and there or lost completely forever.
In this guide, DYS talks about the first glass ceiling in wow as it pertains to wealth ~ 2000-2500g. Based on my prior wowarmory.com research as well as in-game empirical data across 3 servers I would estimate this to be completely correct. I’d also suggest further ceilings at 10,000g and 25,000g. There are very very few players on any given realm that carry this much wealth. In the best progressed Horde guild on my server, for example there are 49 level 80 toons. Discounting alts and bank-alts lower than level 10 there are only 7 people that have over 30,000g. The same for the best Alliance side. The thing is – after a while earning methods trail off and/or cool down if you don’t mix-up your investment strategy. TRUST me, I’ve had this happen to me when I was stuck at 45K for two weeks straight. You NEED to diversify and utilize as many good methods as you can to squeeze out extra profits.
Another problem is that people don’t like to take risks enough. I spend 1,000-2,000g a day easily without even thinking twice about it. This is the reality. This is what it takes to get really rich. Most people aren’t willing to be patient and instead would rather “keep” their gold. The irony is that by hording gold in your bags/bank the money is doing nothing for you. If you make your gold work for you like this guide does then you’d be a fool not to utilize it. If you aren’t willing to take risks and trust mod settings/think medium-long term then it won’t work for you. Hope my insight helps.
Thanks for the help with getting the guide, i got the Inscription guide too and with that i have made close to 30,000 gold WOW !!!!! Before the guide i was the guy asking all my friends on wow too give me 100g for repairs so i could go farm some more…. Not any more!!!
I just got this guide and will follow it to a T and it is working great already
thanks for the great guides guys and all that hard work you do
Purchased your Auction House Mastery Guide, and I think its great piece of work that will without question make me tons of gold in the comming months. Thanks for writing the guild.
I do have a question tho that you guys may be able to help me out concerning how to deal with the massive amounts of incoming mail, and determining what items purpose are when making bids on items. This primarily is an issue when I am making bids on Vender, Disenchant, and Resale items. How do I know which is for which when I get them in the mail, which can be many hours later, and I have done many many bids thruout the waiting period? Does Auctioneer have a way to flag the item in the mail as a vender, disenchant, resale item?
You will find that information in the tooltip of each item when you open your mail. There isn’t a way to have all of that sorted before hand however.
Hey gavin I attempted to purchase the guide and when I click order here my computer security says do not to proceed that the site I am attempting to connect with contains spyware. ??????
That’s really odd, but there is no way that a PDF can contain any spyware. The file doesn’t even contain an executable, so you can ignore the warning message, but thanks for the info.
hi i just bought your guide and its pretty impressive. its just want i thought it would look like.
i would like to know more in depth about the “scan for vendor” for example:
Do i buy stuff that i can sell to a vendor for profit?
what do i buy?
should i bid or buyout?
also what proffesion goes wiht enchanting on my death knight? (the most money maker of course!)
Frankly I do both. Catching things for vendor is the simplest money you will ever make. You will make more money off the bid only items of course, but every single item you can find that makes you a profit is a good thing.
For your DK I would pick either a gathering profession, or just something that helps your toon perform better. My priest does Enchanting with Tailoring, the Paladin got Mining and Engineering, and Druid went Herbalism with Alchemy. Enchanting is the big money maker all by itself, so consider adding mining or herbalism if you prefer gathering professions (you can make a little gold on the side that way) or professions like Alchemy, Leatherworking, or Blacksmithing (BS is probably best for a DK).
@ Dahart: AADV flags all you auctions. At the bottom of your tooltip it will say for what purpose it was won.
It’s something like this: “Last won for ‘resale/DE/vendor etc.’ – Amount of gold payed”
hi i just bought your guide and its \very informative and jsut what i would expect from your team!
can u explain more aobut the “scanning for vendor”
Read my comment above, but scanning for vendor is just like all the other scans, with the only exception that you will bid or buyout everything in the list based on your settings. It’s easy money.
hi nice guide this is my third time posting i cant see my posts still sorry if it shows me posting 3 times.
Thanks for the guide
OK, I bought your auction guide and it’s more complex than I had thought. I’ve even started making some gold reselling mats, but I want to get a couple of weeks of scanning with the new settings before I start buying greens for resell.
What I’d like to see is some more info on is the filters. Is there a way to set them differently for the different searches. I can’t find it.
One little BTW, LSW helped me level engineering to 450 AND make a profit. Leveling guides all say “army knifes from 435 to 450″ but they are vendor trash. LSW pointed me to a scope that costs about twice as much to make, but sells at a small profit. Cool huh? And yes, they are selling!
Finally, I can see your guide making me a bunch of gold once I get some experience with the settings.
Oh, and finally finally, if you’re running LSW, it is showing me a number of glyphs that I can make a profit on.
hey, I bought the guide, and im totally new to trying to “work the AH” but I can sing praises for it, im slightly confused as to what to resale
And has anyone else found they get nothing when they search for fisenchant? is this due to overpriced greens? ive triple checked my search setting. but yet nothing appears for DE, so if any1 can say what they think i could do about this, or if they’re certain this is a common situation when low level enchant mats are low in demand and the cost of the greens are high, well i’d really appreciate it =)
i have the same thing happen. It is prob not the settings it is just your server.
okay thank you for the advice sir lawbringer
Im having an issue with scanning AND vendor scanning, when i try to purchase an item it says the auction no longer exists, but then when i re scan vendor stuff it is still there and i cant seem to purchase ANYTHING. any help would be wonderful =)
Tom, the best way to avoid the “auction no longer exists” messages is to do your scans during low server load times. We normally scan on Monday and Tuesday first thing in the morning when there just aren’t that many people at the AH.
You also have to be pretty quick about buying from the SearchUI screen. Keep an eye out next week for a great tutorial on all of this in addition to the Ah guide.
I love this guide and your inscription guide. I cant believe the jerks that come on and knock you for charging pennies for a couple guides: especially right after they say how the love getting all the free advice and how much it has helped them. Your site has helped me so much that if i bought all your guides and they didnt help me abit i would still be money ahead. I dont have any horde toons or i would have bought that guide aswell. Law is a valuable asset to you. I was getting mad reading all the wanks bitchy comments and was going to tell them to shut the @#%$ up and he did it so politely i laughed. Just like to say again THANK YOU to the whole team a DYS and say please dont quit doing the podcast. If people cant fiqure out that there is like 6 articles wrapped in to one than let them leave. Less people coming here than dominating on my server tha better it is for me. Love your hard work.
P.S If you guys ever think about starting an ally guild i would be more than willing to transfer all of my toons over there to join you.
Could someone help me out please, ive been buying out silk cloth and putting it back on, using all the settings given in the guide, but because the cloth has a buyout it’s not worth bidding on, because as you said yourself, cloth always goes. But if i buy it out and put it back on, will these setting make SURE that the new price creates a profit, even after the AH cut has been taken
I would REALLY like a reply to this =)
- many thanks!
If you are scanning for your buyouts using SearchUI as we detail in the guide, then yes, you will have a hard time losing gold. If you are freelancing and using browse buying to get the cloth you will have to know exactly what silk is selling for on a moving basis and make sure you are purchasing below a certain price level.
This is why we hardly ever browse buy anything but BoE blues and epics. Mats should always be bought through the Resale module or from Snatch. That way, all of the calculations on what to buy are done for you and you never have to do any guessing.
I have the leveling guide and love it, although a lot of coords are wrong. Still a great time saver and EZ way to level. F A S T !
I also have the inscription guide wich I thought was a complete waste of money! The only thing I got out of it was a small list of herbs and the zones they are found in, But that was available on Alakazan for free. This was probably a good guide if you got it a few weeks before Lich King came out.
So now that you have a recored of 1 and 1. 1 great guide and 1 crap guide, I am wondering where this AH guide will end up???
Judging from the posts above, their seems to be a few confusing sections and a few sections that need to be flushed out a bit more to releive all the confusion.
I guess if Auctioneer had some decient instructions (written in plain English) you wouldn’t need this guide.
Well now, that’s really the problem isn’t it? Not only is AADV confusing, using it properly is even more so. But it gets worse, and therefore the need for this guide.
You see, even at 130+ pages, it’s very hard to cover every little thing we do in utter detail. All the information is there, but it takes a few weeks to get used to seeing the information and acting on it.
Even though documentation for AADV is virtually nonexistent, you could take months to figure it out on your own. But that would be mere function and not expertise in using it to make gold. There is a difference between understanding how something works and making it work to your best advantage.
The primary benefit of this guide is not just the usage tutorial, but also the settings and system of timing. We expected a lot of questions to remain, and some teaching left to be done. You could have the world’s best guide to how to play football and still be a little lost on the field without some expert coaching and practice.
The guide will need some minor tweaks to be sure, but we don’t want it to end up being so long that it becomes unreadable as a reference. But we have plans for some additional resources for people to use in conjunction with the guide that will make everything clear.
As it stands, you still have a decision to make. I’m sorry to hear that you thought the inscription guide was a bust. Did you request a refund and receive it? We don’t want anyone to be disappointed in such a large way that they feel the need to whack us in the threads here. We go out of our way to make everyone as happy as we can and we realize that nothing we ever do is going to get a 100% positive response rate.
So, you are correct, if there was somewhere you could get a 300 page guide to using AADV you wouldn’t need this guide – maybe. But since that does NOT exist, the only choice you have left is whether you can truly dominate NOW without it. Yes, we aren’t the smartest dudes in the world, and maybe you could figure it all out faster. True, this may not be the ONLY system that works in AADV, but we have yet to find another one.
What we can tell you is that this system WILL work for anyone. It’s going to take some practice and we will do everything we can to add, delete, rearrange, and augment our instructions so that they are as good as we can get them.
Law, I could not level fast enough with my DK and get the inscription to be profitable for me. I now have lots of lvl50+ herbs and inscription at 275. since prices went down dramatically and I want a profitable profession, should I switch to alchemy or should I continue leveling inscription. My main is enchanting and cloth. tks
Remember that we always say that enchanting is the very best profession for making gold. Outside of that crafting for gold is sort of hit and miss. That is where Lil’Sparky’s comes in.
It would be better to use professions for helping your toon rather than expecting a ton of gold from them. Herbalism and Mining will be the best money makers right now, but again, that leaves you farming for mats to sell.
However, prices are going to continue to drop for mats until they reach market equilibrium, so that might not be your best bet either. Really, the only way to make large amounts of gold consistently is to diversify by selling mats from a wide range of stuff, and not to rely on a few professions to make it happen.
But you may be right in thinking that alchemy might be the best of the lot outside of enchanting. Plus, alchemy will give your toon a terrific boost to using potions.
My expericance with guide sor far:
300Gold profit
200 rolling auctions
20 Blues that did resell first time
15 Greens that didnt sell
So i am money ahead with extras in the bank waiting for next weekend. Only troubles is cant find any cheap greens to de but not the guides fault, anyway i am finding enough mats dont really need to de. Love the guide
Sorry I am DESPERATE for a simple answer, i did some simple browse buying/selling of infinite dust, i boguht it at 111% PCT (apparently) and i have made SURE that my settings are correct. however, having bought it in batches of 20, im selling it in batches of 2. but Appraiser has put it back on, I am trusting the setting given to me by the guide, but when i search the ah it says my stacks of 2 are on at 85% pct, so am i reaing this wrong or does that, as im worrying about, mean im losing money on each sale??
Im mainly rlly annoyed because I cant see how the guide is going to be much use if i cant browse mats and resell them… because it’s actually reselling them for less money, so the guide might actually be losing me money ( NOT something i believe is purposeful ofc) but I really really would like a reply to this comment
The problem you are having is using browse buying to purchase mats – that’s not good. Also, it seems that you might have missed the price level stuff on page 40.
Browse buying should only be used when you have a really big database with some good age on it – say 50 or 60 scans or more. Everything else should be done through SearchUI. If you use the SearchUI Resale module with the settings on page 47, you should not even SEE items in the range you are talking about = problem solved.
The system is built to be used a certain way, and if you freelance you can make a lot of mistakes. No more Browse buying, stick with the programmed searches in SearchUI that we outline and you’ll be fine. I know you said that you went back over your settings, but IF your settings are all correct, AND you are using the proper modules to scan for resale, then there should be no way to even see items in the 110% range. They shouldn’t pop up at all for purchase.
If you are using the SearchUI resale module properly you will only see items in the blue and green ranges. On those itmes, any markdown that happens in Appraiser will still leave you at least a 15% profit margin. Based on our settings it is virtually impossible for the markdown to leave you with a negative margin. The only time you might lose money on things is if they are not selling and the markdown keeps dropping for several weeks in order to sell out for you so that at least you get back some of the money you paid for the item.
Keep in mind that this is a complete system. Using only bits of it will leave you with diminishing returns. You CAN make gold just buying certain mats for resale, but not nearly as much as if you do everything.
is the enchanting guide out? i havnt had a chance to put the stuff in this guide to a large scale usage yet but so far with the little bit i’ve done it seems pretty much idiot proof thanks to gavin and everyone at DYS. sorry if the idiot proof offends anyone.
I have a question about working the AH the DYS way:
Im supposed to buy thing using the vendor and DE and prospect and relist functions of auctioneer… but how do I know what is what when it all comes into my mail 1-2 days after I bid? Will the mail say “function:relist” or “function:DE”? how will I know what to vendor, or DE? In other words, how will I know what to do with each item that comes in my mail after a “shopping spree” with my banker?
thanks in advance. and so far, the guide looks really promising, and seems to be worth the 20 bucks.
The bottom of tool tip says what you bought it for.
Yes, AADV will mark everything you purchase according to whatever it was you purchased it for. When you open all your mail, that information will be near the bottom of the tooltip for each item. It will say “Last Purchased for : Resale, 3 days, 9hours ago” or something to that effect.
1 weekend, 1500g, 300+ rolling auctions, and i haven’t even touched the ecnchant or green/blue/purple yet, thats just all mats.
Love the guide, I would of never figgured out all this on my own. Great job guys!
My spelling isn’t the best but i have a question and maybe i missed it but ive been taking notes on this guide i bought it and love it ive been making 400g a day.. my question is the searchui is that supposed to list the best deals or what im not exactly sure what it is ..i mean i hit the search button and it takes me to the very last page..prolly a super noob question…but im just confused on how that works is it supposed to show me the blue and green items in 50% market prices or what ever or does it just scan and load data for that item drop down..
im not sure im explaining what i mean but my question is does it make it easy to find the deals rather than guessing and finding whats bellow market and purchasing it? you prolly explained it in the guide and i over looked it if so show me just the page number i might have missed…
and to all those debating weither this is a good buy or if its as good as the other guides this is simply put the best ive seen and used..
i spend 200 on mats for bags make 500g -400g in return doing very little work just create all eat …scan…post…boom gold.. so if i wanna make gold and new or experienced with the AH this helps out too..
thanks for helping me
Great guide guys ive made 400g a day easy with 50 or so auctions still pending this is the best guide so far easy simple stupid proof i like it..
one question though i dont quite understand is the searchui..you might have mentioned it in the guide i and i over looked it im sure…(if so point out the page)
does it automatically order my search to the low under market items or just load the info into the item info when u highlight it.. cause when i search it starts me automatically on the last page of the ah..is there a way to have it list all the great deals going on in the ah rather than have to search for them individually..if u get what i mean.. that would make life easier than just selling the crap out of cloth and bags..im a noob when it comes to setting up addons but i rock at raping people in the ah lol so if theres a way to look at all the best deals at once rather than search for them individually let me know or point out the page…
great guide must buy 19 bucks is nothing for the info u guys give and retard proof..for the most part
Thanks for a great guide. I’ve been scanning for about a week and have kept to the disenchant and vendor searches only. The only greens/blues that I’ve put up for sale (after a week of scanning) were those found and made to level JC that had a better value on auction than on disenchant. I started with about 1500G and am at over 4000g in just a week of disenchanting/vendoring with auctions pending for DE and vendor and mats up in the AH
.
Definitely money well spent.
At this rate my husband I and will both have hogs and mammoths
I’m a little worried… I bought the guide, think it’s great, but it appears greens are massively overpriced on my server, because nothing’s coming up for disenchant when I scan.
Since you so heavily sing the praises of disenchant, I’m wondering… how much of an impact is it likely to make if I’m forced to stick to buying for resale and buying for vendor? Only I don’t have a level 80 on any other server, so I’m pretty much stuck with the market I’ve got, and it doesn’t look good for disenchant :s
The guide does note that not each method will work on your your individual server. That’s why there are many methods and using them all together will net you profit.
We get this question from time to time, and it would be good to clear this up for everyone.
If you are just beginning to scan when you get the guide you will get nothing for DE for a while. Until AADV has time to build a big database, there is simply not enough info on enough items to generate a list from the scans.
remember that we only want to see items in the modules that have been seen at least 5 times, and that DE mats are priced based on Purchased and not Market Value. This means that the DE module will only show items that have been seen at least 5 times and will only show items that DE to stuff that has purchased prices.
This problem is only a problem for a few weeks, but once AADV has a big enough store of item and mat info it is by far the best and safest way to make gold.
Guy is for real. I have gotten a money back from him. On another issue which was proably not his fault but more my lack of experience and knowledge on the game itself. I will buy this guide myself and test it out. The one thing I love doing is hitting that AH and seeing how much money I can make. My question is or will this help us Alliance players who refuse to go to the dark side.
Just an excellent column and unique way of getting lessons learned across. thank you guys.
am starting to rake in the gold now. I am making 200 to 400 gold in the four hours I am on during the morning selling inscriptions. I followed the advice to buy herbs long ago and turned them into inks and then set up the Auction house add on and NOW i have the stock and the gold is rolling in. Last week I made a little over 4000g so far this week (and it is only Tuesday) I am hitting 4500 gold, I am not over charging any one , in fact I charge 50% UNDER THE CURRENT MARKET PRICE and the only cost to me so far is the paper i have to buy from the vendor to inscrib what I need, I only make to order, I do not place them on the Auction house. I love the help this guide gave me and you will too if you follow the advice and stick to a plan of action. GREAT JOB GUYS Thanks
AADV freezes WoW when it gets within 10-5 seconds of finishing the scans. Help
Hello, I recently bought your guide. I have read through it and excitied to put it into action. I was ready for the first scan after configuring.
Now AADV scans all the pages but once it gets to 5-10seconds remaining, it then freezes WoW with nothing to exit other than end task. (I’am running on a new computer so no worries of low RAM etc..) I have disabled my other addons and run only the ones you suggest but still the game freezes.
It’s normal for the game to appear to freeze at the end of a scan. Unfortunately there is no way around this. Plus, it gets worse the larger your database gets.
You should see a scan bar on your screen while the database sorts:
Step 1 – goes really fast
Step 2 – this is where you probably feel the freeze, this can last up to 5 minutes depending on your connection and computer speed along with how many folks are in the vicinity of the AH
Step 3 – another sticky spot, but normally much faster than step 2
As long as the progress bar for step 2 is active and moves even a little bit from time to time it will eventually finish.
Thanks for the quick reply, just done a few scans and they seem to be working ok.
Quick question? are we supposed to keep posting greens and blues till they sell or just 2 weeks and /or 4 times and than DE them and sell the mats?
BTW love the guide and all of your posts. TO HELL WITH THE NOOBS that say it is getting to be too much F and F. keep up the great work team DYS.
Greens get a purge after 4 posts, which is two weeks if you follow the system. Blues and epics are at your discretion. But if you buy them at the discount levels we recommend you can just keep reposting them forever until they sell and you should always at least break even.
Is AADV flagging these 4-posted Items somehow or do we need to keep track of that manually? I guess a person could run a set of Items on a 2-week rotation at the end of which time they would DE anything remaining and then post a new batch of Items, but that would seem to almost double your capital outlay for Items as 1/2 or more would be waiting on a mule for up to 2 weeks. How do you deal with that?
On page 42, the first full paragraph says to be sure the item value is calculated from Simple Stats. In the next paragraph, it says to use the item values from AucAdv Stat: Purchased. The graphic also shows the dropdown filled with Stats:Purchased. If the graphic is right, what are you referring to regarding Simple Stats in the first paragraph?
I have used autioneer for a while to sell items at the best price so I am looking forward to getting back from work and setting it up with the other addons to do the biz.
Hopefully the weeks of scanning I have already been doing will help with the db.
Is the vendor resell just a case of looking through or is there a vendor search specifically. It kinda skips over it in the guide. Do you need to look through each item…probably be answered once I try it
Hey Gavin,
I got your AH guide about 3 weeks ago and I’m only using the DE part of it.
I just bought your guide, it is great, just what I was looking for!
A couple of questions: on page 41, settings for Enchantrix, I cannot find this screen in the most current version of Auctioneer. Can you comment on this?
Also, on page 42 you say Item value should be calculated from Simple stats, and in the very next paragraph it says use Purchased. Which one should it be?
I just purchased you auction guide, On pg 41 its showing how to modify enchantrix…trouble is i dont have that “auctions” option.
My choices start at automation and contain the rest of those in your guide, I have the latest release.
Any suggestions?
Is the guide still $19, or did it go up to the regular price?
Yes…Its still $19
alright, thanks
are you guys getting any replys on your questions? cause I having the same questions, would be nice if we got some input for the creators of the guide. I understand they maybe busy with real life or playing the game, but a little support on this guide would be wonderful
Kice – there are 22 comments in this thread from me. That’s about 30% of the comments. The guide is structured so that if you begin to practice it you will get better at the things you are doing. If you have questions, another read-through will help you a little more. It’s simple and very complicated at the same time.
But to the point, no we don’t have time to personally tutor every single person who buys the guide, although we are about to release some video tutorials that will be just about the same thing.
When people identify points that need more clarification we clear those up and send out updates. There is one coming out tomorrow as a matter of fact.
So it’s a bit of a slap in the face to take the time to do a great guide, answer over 20 questions in this thread when the answers are already covered in the guide, and then have you basically challenge us with an accusation of not doing any of the above.
I’ve read the guide 2 months ago, scanned almost everyday, and started making some money, specially with desanchanting. I’ve read it again last weekend and tuned a few things.
and some 72-78 blue gear. I do purchased the 17-60 blue but they are rare. I never see any mats; cloth, essences, leather or ore on the list. Meaning that I leave 4000g unused out of my 5000g playing money… I have to scan for mats manually and I frequently buy them at 75% to resell at 110% when possible. How can I automate that? or get better hint on type of mats/gear to buy?
However, I have 2 questions remaining:
1. My understanding is that the purchase requests are done thru the chat screen. Then, for every item I get a confirmation message. Is there any way to avoid those messages? It can be tedious to press 150-200 times ‘Yes’.
2. The resale hasn’t been working very good with me. Once I removed the gems and some crap, i’m left with scrolls
Tks, keep the good work.
Darthmec,
We all wish there was a setting or something where we could choose to skip all the confirmation messages, but we probably won’t get one. I actually think it has something to do with Blizz. It may very well be the case that removing the confirmation would amount to a ‘bot’ kind of thing and would be viewed as an unfair advantage. So it’s probably not going to be fixed. We all just have to live with the fact that there is just going to continue to be two clicks to purchase every item – sigh.
As to the resale thing, don’t be discouraged. Remember that every realm is different and your server may just have very stable prices on items and mats, but there are still other modules you can play with that will net you a lot of dough. On stable economies, Arbitration works unbelievably well if you can do it. Also use all that scan data to check out Converter. You might also do a test run on Prospecting and Milling if you have toons or buddies capable of helping you out with that. I’ll prospect and mill about 100 stacks a month.
Unfortunately the level of automation you have is probably as good as it gets, and anything further would fall into the ‘bot’ range of things. With that being said, add all those 75% mats to your Snatch module and scan for them that way instead of in the resale screen.
TKS for the honest answer. btw, i started a new horde toon on another server and i am up to 500g in 2 weeks. only lvl10. so i might be the server as u mentionned, or that alliance side has more guide readers…
Also, on my alliance server, most of the buy items are already gone by the time i do a scan and start purchasing, lol.
That’s great. I’ve been looking for a way to bypass the confirmation box. This will be a huge time saver. I tested both macros. The one for purchasing didn’t work, even after copying from Norganna’s site. But the confirmation box script worked. If anyone finds a way to completely bypass the screen please post.
By the way Lawbringer, you guys rock, I loved your guide. It took me about 3 months to break the 10k gold mark. Great Guide!!!
The purchasing macro does in fact work, but not if you copy it from the website, as I found out. I had to play with it for a while, but it looks like when copied from the website, there are several extra spaces inserted into the macro before “then” I think. Just try fixing the spacing and it should work. I even used the template to make a third macro for myself that goes to the “Ignore” button instead of the purchase button. This has made my AH buying so much easier.
Explosive Shot Crit.
I was one of the complainers about the update problem, sorry.
I got to thinking I should let you know some of the much more positive things that have happened while using the guide.
I purchased the guide on February 17th & I had just a little over 10k gold. I had previously had some small success with the AH, however most of that had been from mining while leveling new pets in the Basin on my hunter.
I used what I had to power level enchanting on my level 70 priest. I followed the guide a much as possible & had a very good amount of items for Thursday afternoon. I added more on items for Saturday & I did a lot of scans on that 1st weekend using the what I had learned from the guide. I also was on DYS reading for hours, I learned a ton of info. I was exhausted by Sunday evening. I emptied my mailbox once more before I hit the sack, I had made a little over 8000g. I went to sleep with a big smile on my face.
On Monday I was completely flabbergasted, I kept going to my banker throughout the day & I think I must have been in shock by the end of the day. I had gotten over 10k gold in my mailbox in one day!
I just finished with all of my mail for my 3rd weekend (the postal addon is a must have) and I am at 66,000 gold & some change!
This guide truly ROCKS!!!
Mail Tracking Question.
A great guide and very helpful. But is there a way to lable or track what items are for what when they end up in your mail box? What I mean is I bid on items for vendor, disenchant, and resale. but the next day when I have 100 items in my mail box, it’s sometimes hard to remember which item is for vendoring, disenchanting, or resale.
Is there a way to note these items once you win them and they arrive in your mail box?
Thanks
When you look at the tooltip of an item, at the very bottom of the little tooltip window that popped up, it should say:
“Last bought for [resale/vendor/disenchant/etc] x hours/minutes ago – [price]
Some items don’t show this, likely because they weren’t bought for a specific purpose by me…but most items show this.
First off I wanted to say good job on the guide. Its nice to have the gold to be able to buy my toon all the things he ever wanted.
One thing that I found helpful is turning on enchantrix auto disenchant. Since one of my alts only disenchants stuff this has made life easier. Instead of clicking the disenchant hot key then clicking the item I now get a little box that pops up asking if I want to disenchant item X. Thought I’d pass that along.
Now for my question. When you guys get your new system in place, how will be notified that it is ready?
Keep up the good work!!!
I do like the new member site and think this will be a great way to keep my guide up to date. Thank you for getting this set up.
You guys may want to take a look at how you are zipping your file though. I had some problems opening it using Windows as it kept saying the file was invalid. Windows Vista can read ZIP files, but not yours for some reason. Luckily, I was able to unzip it using WinRAR, but this free trial will be expired next time you guys release a guide I’m sure. Thanks.
Just a note on a gotcha, When Scanning the AH for Milling AH will use the price of the pigments and not the selling price of the actual Inks. That little tidbit cost me around 4kg,
, I kept seeing 140% profits and I kept buying them and then sending them to my main for inking. then sending them back to my bank for selling, took me about 2 weeks to figure out that I was losing 40% of my gold to this. Viva La Wow!
Just want to say great guide, the first one that had what I was looking for. One question though- is there a login page to download the guide for update? If so where can I find it?
Thanks
hey was i wondering why resale valuation wasnt showing in my tooltip thx
Great Guide! I have a couple questions tho
Do you use simple or default (market) in appraiser and why? And if simple, is there a way to make it default?
And one other thing about disenchant. Is the disenchant value of an item based on the fixed value of the mats in the enchantrix section or the market value? I ask because the prices on the fixed value are higher than my realms market value and I believe the de value is being based on the fixed value.
I had a question about vendor. In your guide it states that you should buy all the vendor items from search, but how do you differentiate what items in your mailbox are for vendor purposes and which ones are for re-listing or de? Great guide btw, well worth the 20 bucks i spent.
Thanks for a great guide..
I was doing well without the guide, using all of the right tools, just not to the best of their ability. I have almost doubled my money in just 1 day, and only a very small part dedicated to the AH.
I was just wondering when I set the Auctioneer settings on my AH alt, will those settings transfer over to my main?
When i set the settings for auctioneer on my AH toon will my main’s auctioneer have the same settings or do i have to fix them as well?
I use the profile selection for auctioneer, enchantrix, searchui, etc.
to pick which settings I want for each main or alt. If however you have them all set at the default profile then each one will use those same settings. I have AH alts on four realms and all of them have unique profiles. I start each one with Gavin’s AH mastery guide settings and over time I find those little opportunities that I read about in the guide and most importantly on the blog posts on DYS, they have helped me tremendously.
I hope this helps you on your profile selections
I was just wondering, I had the guide for a while, and i been using it succsessfully, but i am not sure what happend, but it seems that auctioner no longer displays any data for me, like How many times the item was seen, prices, all that information no longer shows up. I have all the setings set corretly the same way it is in the guide. How do i get all that info to appear again?
Because of this book i made 540G off of 1 silver the first week i attempted this.
what is the latest version of the auction house guide, i have version 1.2 and i dont know how to get the latest version
How do you check which version you have?
Howdy,
I just downloaded the new Auctioneer Suite 5.6.4424 and it has many new options.
The most important is my bread & butter – Disenchant ftw!
I am curious about the new “Price Valuation Method” on the SearchUI – disenchant, it is set at default of “Enchantrix”. What are your thoughts on which method to use?
Thanks,

I started a new DK on a pvp server making the standard 2 mule and auctioneer toons, Tauren of course, and ran them to Thunderbluff of course…
After a little while of playing and leveling my DK who was to be my main on this server, I sent 200 gold to the auctioneer, and all the greens i found or got as quest rewards that weren’t soulbound, for the first 2 weeks of leveling. and in those 2 weeks using Gavin’s guide I ended up with 1752 Gold.
Thank you Gavin!
the guide is great, but where do i get updates?
This Guide is great. Well worth the money EXCEPT:
I bought this guide last year. I don’t play over the summer.
I’m starting up again, and now I don’t know if there’s an updated guide, I don’t know where to find out, where to download it, how to contact anyone at DYS about this.
They make it nearly impossible to do this, maybe because they don’t want to update the guide? Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve looked everywhere.
Very frustrating, can anyone help?
quick question, I’d like to buy the guide but I hear from Norganna the Auctionner project is failure, it is unlikely the db will be maintain anymore, how useful would be the guide without auctionneer?
Chris,
The auctioneer project as a whole is not ending, just the auctioneerdb server. That particular server was intended to store global AADV price data across all servers uploaded from individual AADV users. The problem is – nobody who has a brain gives a crap what the global price is or should be. The only thing that matters is the price on your server for the last thirty to sixty days. So AADV is not going to stop working, just the bit that nobody gave a hoot about anyway and never used.
Each individual user keeps their own internal database from AADV scans, so your database will be intact. The DB site was intended to upload your user data and combine it with all other user data, but if you scan regularly it wouldn’t help much, so you wont be losing a thing. It’s been shut down for weeks now anyway and I certainly haven’t missed it for a second.
I have two questions for you guys:
Have you considered working with or have you previously worked with Norganna to steamline AAdv for the purpose of making money?
The percentages on my snatch list are sometimes orange or yellow, are those percentages the percentage of the price I originally asked AAdv to snatch the item at or is it grabbing those things at nearly market value?
So, is there an updated version of the guide? i got it over a year ago and it even then seemed a bit out of date. Or was the statement of updates just a marketing scam to make $$$?
Thats a good question. I was gone for the most of the year and my hard drive just crashed when I started playing again so I needed another download. I requested one via the old download link and via email gavin@dominateyourserver.com and have yet to receive a response.
Hey there! Loved this guide awesome work…but….i bought this guide and now my computer is in transit to england and i need another copy! where can we, the people who’ve bought it…get another copy?
is there a way to get another copy if youve lost yours?
I am curious as well, i lost mine a while back, and need to setup my settings agian.
If you read all the comments here, you should see that the writers of this guide don’t really support it. The statement about free updates, or even any updates seems to be a lie. (probably just to make some $$) And there is no way to get it again it seems (at least i haven’t found one personally). Also there seems to be little to no way of contacting any of the writers of this guide.
Even if you guys do get the guide again, without an update, as it is at least a year old now, it is not that helpful.
If the writers to give an update or at least let some people get the guide again, that would be great. But that probably will never happen.
We’ve answered this question a number of times in this very thread. (yes it’s a long thread)
All you have to do to download your replacement is visit http://gavinsguide.com/members
If for some odd reason you have not already received a password for your account, just use the lost password button retrieval feature and you will have your password within seconds.
As a side note Law, maybe you guys could think about putting the members link at the top of the page? Just a thought
Boy does this kind of stuff get old.
We have updated the guide more than ten times since it came out – but that isn’t enough for Dread here.
We have mentioned three separate times in this thread alone where you can get a replacement or update – still not enough.
The information in HOW to make money using the AH could be 10 years old and would still be the best out there. The writers who try to tell you WHAT to buy go out of date. We teach people HOW to buy and sell. That way, it doesn’t matter what is hot this month, or this patch, or this xpac. Also, once you get the hang of the settings, most people who use the guide would agree that an update for them is unnecessary.
We do admit that there has been a recent flurry of menu changes in AADV. And Law is in the painstaking process of redoing a bunch of pictures. But in reality nothing has changed, except the pictures. Apparently Dread has never really learned to read and needs those in his books still.
We have also gone out of our way to respond to those people who have emailed us at editor@dominateyourserver.com and gavin@dominateyourserver.com
We have never hidden those two addresses, and we respond to anything reasonable in a timely fashion. So before you listen to some guy spouting off about stuff he has absolutely no idea about, you might want to just take a few minutes and scan the thread above and see just how much we really do respond. You might find that there is an awful lot of support and positive feedback. Plus, just ask the members of Dominate how many folks have joined Fenris and gotten a good few hour tutorial in person. If you’re looking for corporate jerks and bad guys you’re on the wrong site here.
^^^ I got one of those tutorials…. very helpful!! And as one of the guide users.. unless something drastic changes with the addon, Law is right.. updates are unnecessary. It’s still an awesome guide and works just as well as it did the day it came out.

let me start by admitting that, i didn’t scan the thread that carefully for links. For that i do apologize and for the related part of my comments.
How ever i did email both addresses that you mention, and never got a response or even a confirmation of any sort.
Law,
Somehow I totally missed that member’s link and I did look through the thread. However I did send email to every email address I could find on DYS and never received a reply on any of them. Im thinking my mails may have gotten picked up as spam perhaps? Anyhow, I do have what I need now. Thanks for dropping into the comments here and helping clear things up.

I just wanted to see if there was an update to your guide out or not. I still have Gavin Garrett’s Auction House Mastery Guide Version 1.0. If so, please let me know.
