Yes it’s a cheesy play on an NPC name, but that is actually what he says.  He is looking for someone worthy of teaching two epic recipes.  So the bad play on words started with Blizz, not us.  Probably not intentional, but still a minor fail on that level, but we still ought to tell you about these things.

So moving forward, here’s how this works.  You can get two patterns for epic cloaks from this guy.  But you can’t buy them, you can only train them, and there is only one way to get him to let you train them.  In order to learn these recipes you have to complete two fairly difficult achievements, and so let’s show you what they are and the cloaks so you can decide if it’s worth the effort for you or your guild.

You can’t actually make either of these until you hit Tailoring 420, and you won’t even see them available from Charles until you hit that level.  When you ding 420 tailoring, a couple of new chat lines will appear in his box that will let you read more about each of these.  Once you hit either achievement, those chat lines will change for the appropriate cloak and you can get the training.

The first recipe we’ll look at is the one for the Deathchill Cloak.  In order to learn the Deathchill cloak recipe you need to complete the achievement Loremaster of Northrend.  This one is a bit of a doozie.  In order to get this sucker you have to clear all of the zone questing achievements listed below, and believe us, it’s no small feat.

You can see how many quests each one of these is going to take by looking them up in the achievements window of your UI.  And usually it means you are going to have to do almost every single quest in each of these zones, and that includes the party quests.  Yikes!  Now before you write this off as not worth it for anything, let’s take a look at the cloak:

Not too shabby.  Almost any caster would like to have one of these until after Naxx, but you may hold off on the grind to get this pattern until after you see the other one.

The other pattern you can get for completing a rather hefty set of tasks is the Wispcloak.  In order to qualify to learn the Wispcloak recipe you have to complete the Dungeonmaster of Northrend achievement.  Here’s how to know which one will be easier for you: if you are in a power guild the dungeonmaster achievement will be pretty easy to complete in as little as a few days, if you play pretty much solo, then it may actually be easier to do the Loremaster route.  The next screenshot shows the Dungeonmaster requirements.

All you have to do is earn each of the dungeon achievements above to get the bigger achievement dungeonmaster.  If you’re already running instances to gear up for heroics, and heroics to gear up for Naxx, then this one is not too tough.  We got our guild tailor to this achievement in about 2 days.  The reason it is well worth it is the Wispcloak.

No haste or extra crit, but with a big chunk of stamina and intellect you probably can do without the other two.  And the MP5 makes this a great selection for any caster of healer going into heroics and Naxx.  We will end up making about ten of these the next few days for every kind of class from paladins to mages.  It’s simply one of the best caster cloaks you’re going to find anywhere outside of Naxx.

Which brings us to maybe the best thing about either one of these items – they are BOE!  So if you’re running a bunch of heroics for the orbs, you can also pop these on the AH for a fairly hefty profit.  The mats are nothing to sneeze at as you can see.

Deathchill cloak Reagents required:

Wispcloak Reagents:

That’s one frozen orb, ten eternals of various flavors, five bolts of imbued frostweave and a siren’s tear.  You can only get the Siren’s Tear from Ahlurglgr the Murloc Clam Vendor in Borean Tundra by turning in 100 Winterfin Clams.  So it’s back to the baby murlocs, but without the fun of baby murlocs.  All in all the mats are probably worth around 1000+ gold on most servers, so you’ll have to see how much more people are willing to pay for a killer cloak.

If you get the mats yourself you could easily charge 750g for these and they would sell like hotcakes.  Or you might pop this one in trade chat and see how many people will just bring you the mats for a 50g crafting fee or something. You’re going to have to work pretty hard to get either of these, make sure you get paid for your effort.

So whether you’re trying to gear up a whole guild, gear yourself up, or make some sweet coin and have tailoring already, you might want to consider grabbing one or both of these.  The mats are a pain, but both of these recipes are pretty Dominating!
