Domination podcast Episode 6
Posted on December 1st, 2008 by Lawbringer under Podcast, World of Warcraft, WotLKEpisode 6 is the blame game. Whose fault is it really? Who cares when it’s this funny! Money pitches a fit and Bonehammer comes up large once again. Leave it the man with the mojo to Dominate when veryone else gets in a wad.
We didn’t get a lot of questions last week and that means two things. Everyone has already gotten bored, or we’ve answered everything. The latter isn’t probably and the former is unconscionable. I guess we’ll see after this week. If you’re getting bored we can always spread them out more, so let us know how you’re liking the podcast since it’s hard to tell right now with the questions tapering off to nearly nothing.
As usual you can get the complete transcript by clicking the link below, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy recording!

apologies for no ?.. but i do have one what hunter spec do you use to level with?. and pet as well.
for those people who are deciding on alchemy or blacksmithing..i choose alchemy for the trinkets. and the bonus length of potions.
You left out one reason why no one’s asking questions; they’re too busy playing!
Now for my question. I have mining and engineering on my DK and I’m going to want the chopper. But getting Valiance Vangaurd to exalted is complicated. Rep with Expedition is straight forward but in and of it self useless, there isn’t even a quartermaster. I’ve made some rep with Explorers League but I’m having a hard time finding the quest lines. WoWWiki was excellent for rep grinds (Netherwing for my Drake) but all I end up doing with EL is running around in circles. Does Azeroth and Outland Explorers Guild rep count? I’m kinda lost with this. Also at lvl 73 I’m not high enough to start the Silver Covenant chains so I haven’t looked them up yet.
Bottom line on this is How do I get Vanguard rep to exalted? I really want a chopper. And I want to make my own!
BTW; saw a chopper and a hog yesterday. Got the screen shot of them together.
Finally I leveled mining on my DK to 300 before I went to Outland. Most can be done with smelting. Anyway, once I finally hit Outland, even with 5000 DKs killing every mob in sight, there was plenty of ore to mine. I hit 375 a long time before lvl 68 but got grand master any way and discovered I could level beyond 375 with outland ores.
Do you have a Guild on an Aliance server?

I have a question about Auctioneer. I have used Classic for the past year to buy low and resell items. I never buy something I can’t double in price. With the new patch Classic is no longer supported. How do you use the “Advanced Auctioneer” to scan only what you want, like just armor? And how do you search for bargains like undervalued green and above. Can the historical data I collected over the past year be uploaded into the new database? The old Auctioneer seems so much better then the new
You and I think alot alike on Auctioneer Classic vs Advanced. 20 min to do a full scan is getting real old. I think they really dropped the ball not letting us decide what we want to scan. What I’ve noticed is that when you “search”, it updates its data base. So if all you want is armor, search armor. For me all I want is armor above level 75 and less than 10g to disenchant. And it’s weird about how it displays when you sort by percent. You have to look at each page. The 1st page may show something at 50% and then when you look at page 2, there will be something at 35%. I’ve seen this a lot with mats, like cobalt bars and frostweave cloth. It sorts first by stack size, then %, even when you’ve selected %.
They may be a little harder to find initially, but there are more powerful and better ways for searching for what you want in Advanced.
If all you are doing is enchanting mats, there is a module JUST for that. You can set filters, you can set for stats, you can do a thousand other things that make everything you did with classic much easier and faster.
BUT – it’s tough to know how to configure it all the first time. The interface is enormous. It has 26 config screens for auctioneer alone, and then there are 10 more for SearchUI and a few for Enchantrix. And they are not done adding stuff yet.
The gold guide covers everything you need to know about how to use AADV in incredible detail.
SO. . . .
We can all QQ about the demise of Classic, or we can move forward and Dominate with what we’ve got. I could whine about how they got rid of Bottom Scanner and how SearchUI is not as good, but that won’t help at all.
we’ve been working with AADV since it came out and have it down to an art form. So can you.
any advice for pallies who refuse to go ret i.e. the healers and tanks as pallies should be. what to do with the new skill points fo both leveling to 80 and raiding at 80. should we bassically try to get the same basic spells as b4 and just consider anything else fluff? like holy going all the way down the tree then working over to get the improved devo aura, and greater blessing of kings?
I always enjoy the the podcasts and will definitely be lfg when Putinhead hits 80 and will be respeccing to tank goodness (or is that tank badness?). Of course, he will be glad to fill out any groups on the way up too
JC was looking better than BSing but now I will have to research a bit more. There is at least one high level smith in the guild already. This also partly answered my previous queston about gear. I also found a site with good info for all classes. Time to run a few quests and get some gold towards that first flying mount.
Thanks for all that research and work,
Putinhead
So is there ever a chance for you guy to make a video of your characters in a studio along with your Podcast lol…
I really wanna see you all in front of a microphone and what not.
i think everyone would enjoy a lil video just once!!!
I have an inscription question, as a tailor/enchanter i noticed that inscription has some enchanter only features… since i have my DK at 80 now(my new main love it!) curious if i shouldn’t just skill up tailoring on my DK(its not that hard really) and snatch up inscription on my enchanter for added benefit, what do you think?
First off episode 6 was hilarious, i’ve gone thru some of that same stuff with guilds on my reg. server & i know exactly where you are coming from lol. I asked once before about average pricing for northrend major glyphs, about how much should they be going for, but my question wasn’t touched upon. Also what northrend herbs have the highest mill yield for icy pigment?
thanks keep up the goodwork!
Hi and thanks for answeing my question in podcast 6. I am currently 300 alchemy (got past 200!!! with the help of some guildies) and once i hit 350 i think i get to choose a mastery.
my quesiton is:
Which Mastery should I choose?
I heard potion mastery isnt that great anymore because of potion sickness, havent heard much of elixer mastery, and i believe transmute mastery is a hit or miss witht he CDs.
Also which would be the most viable for money making?
thanks
hey guys,
I find your articles a lot more enjoyable to read and learn about than the podcasts, would it be possible if you could make your podcasts into articles also?
thanks
If you figure the average article is about one page long, then the podcast is at least 9 or 10 articles worth. We also put the transcript up there so that it is one really long article.
Some people are not auditory learners and prefer to read, that’s cool, it’s also why we take the time to transcribe 10-12 pages worth of the script for everyone.
WTB faster internet while on vacation >.<
2 more weeks… then the rush to catch up to everyone….
ok i paid for gavin’s guide using my wifes paypal accound. so when do i get the guide. is it email or what. i’ve been checking her email and mine both and still no guide
. i seen that the check as cleared paypal but still no guide.
Hi nightempler,
You need to ensure that you don’t have a spam filter enabled on your email account. I bet you received the email with the link to download the guide, after your payment through paypal, but your email blocked it.
I would just send an email to Gavin/Law and have them re-send you the link through email again.
Hope this helps!
Send your receipt to gavin@dominateyourserver.com and we’ll make sure to get it to you right away.
Woot i did finely get my guide and is working great. Nice job u guys
Hey, Gavin and Moneybaggins.
I’ve been a long time reader at DYS and I really appreciate what you’ve been doing. My question is however related to Paladin tanking. Back in Burning Crusade I knew exactly how to gear up, but in Wrath with the advent of Strength and Block Value being needed, (essentially making us true blue Holy Warriors.) how would a “tankadin” gear up. I know first thing is first, hit 540 defense. Then stack Stamina for Spellpower, but do I go with a Spellpower weapon like Titansteel Guardian or a Tanking weapon. If so, what enchant. Any help on gearing properly would be excellent. Keep it up guys.

an article on this would be nice to get your guys perspective on it. Not to promote another website but there is a very nice one out there at maintankadin.com
Any help with getting Engineering up?. I have my own preliminary guide but Im trying not to spend money as im scrimping for my Dk and other chars fantastic new stuff too. Could I haeva Rough Outline in what to make when?
There were a lot of resto druids during BC, but a lot of them switched to a DPS spec to level in Wrath. As I did the same, I hit 80 and switched back to resto (which was the plan all along). My question is not the lack of resto druids, because im definetly dominating with all the gorup tells.
My question is what happened to all of the resto druid gear?????
I have been farming heroics for a week now, and there are very few peices of gear from the (Heroics) badge vendor that intrest me. There is no leather gear for resto druids from badges (save the Teir tokens). Right now, the best gear on the vendors is either Holy Priest cloth, or cloth\leather dps gear with high spirit, which also comes with hit, crit, and haste in most cases. Those stats are hardly desirable as resto. The same with our Teir 7. When im looking at our T7 set, I really feel like this is made for boomkins (along with stats, it has haste and crit). Druids use mostly HoT’s (most are instant casts) to heal with. Now, this would work out if there was any benifit between Crit rating and HoT’s, but there is not. Even Naxx (only really looked through 10man loot) has a lack of Resto druid armor.
After my nice long rant, the questions appear.
Why is there a lack of Resto Druid gear, unlike BC?
What is up with all the un-needed stats, on our Teir gear, no less?
And a little bit off-topic, but…
When might we expect to get our Leatherworking level 80 BoP epics? (Leveled LW in hopes that the epic items relesed at the begining of the x-pack would, once again, prove to be of high quality untill mid x-pack. I am Tribal, btw)
Thanks for reading my qq, hope it wasn’t too long!

When levelling up a gathering profession, I find myself with 3 choices:
1) Gathering before killing: going absolutely out of my way to get mats, hitting the profession cap before the level cap by sneaking around mobs.
2) Killing before gathering: Nose to the ground all the way to 80 and then demolishing everything standing in the way of a northrend herb.
3) Attempting to do both simultaneously with the attention span of a gnome (sorry Money)
Your thoughts please on the most effective way?
My thoughts on the matter:
Beware the Node Ninja.
There is nothing worse than standing on a Node about to gather it and you have to fight a mob to get it and in swoops another player and takes the node. Other than – the highbie that kites the mobs to your node, dumps agro on you, takes the node then flies off.
My opinion on the matter – Just because you can, doesn’t mean you have to.
Yes, that Titanium node is droolworthy. But, I don’t like it when others gank my node so I operate on first there first served. If a 72 is trying to mine it, My 80 will guard them, the node will respawn eventually then I might get the same respect back.
My 80 actually had to argue with a 76 as to why they should get the Steam Cloud that I flew in and tried to Zaptrottle at the same time as them.
Dominate by nice rather than Dominate by arsehole.
Gavin/Law,
Still waiting on that AH mastery guide! I really hope it’s high level merchant/warran buffet/non-peon awesome strategies and not just basic/noob searches that I already know how to do…
I have very high hopes for you both because of how awesome your previous stuff has been. Unfortunately after you said you’d provide updates on the Inscription guide pre-3.0, you haven’t come through on that promise as of yet…
Thanks again for all you’ve done so far though!
P.S.–I’d personally love it if you guys concentrated more on gold-making strategies rather than Warlock leveling builds and the like. All that stuff is for noobs imo. Let’s get to the real hardcore gold business strategies!
Hey guys, I loved to podcast really good stuff.
I am a level 77 Gnomish warrior, I am leveling prot right now and working on building my gear, I am almost completely in Tempered Saronite armor. What stats should I be aiming for at end game – What do i need to be uncrushable and what about avoidance how important is it? What about Specs?
If you could touch on one of my questions in a podcast or write and article helping out other tanks who want to be ready and know thir stuff befor they hit 80. It would be much appreciated.

Hey Gavin, My question is ” Can you suggest a good combat sword rogue build and what talents aren’t worth wasting points on to help me level fast? And if doing a 5 man DK group for outland quests and instances what should you try for.. ” I was thinking 2 frost, 2 blood, and 1 unholy… what are your suggestions?
Question for the next Podcast:
I am an Alliance Engineer on my Main (Jambar – Aman’thul) can you advise the fastest and easiest way for me to get the Motorcycle Schematic. I know you guys are Horde but I think you would have the same limitations on Horde Expedition rep as we do with Alliance Vanguard. I know being Human gives me a 10% rep boost. Just want to know the best places to grind the rep, both Solo and grouped, as we may not all have Guilds like Dominate
Thanks
