How Much Gold Can This Guy Make You?

You know that we give a lot of gold making tips at Dominate Your Server. And most of the time we only talk about things that you can do NOW, or at the very least SOON. But every now and then we come across something that’s going to require a bit of a wait, but you have to act NOW if it’s really going to make you any serious gold.
Most of the time, these gold-making opportunities are related to the holiday events. For instance, Moneybaggins keeps a couple dozen stacks of snowballs around and small eggs to put on the AH the next year the week before the Christmas event begins.
This one is the same sort of thing, only you won’t have to wait that long. But, you might actually choose to wait even longer than a year if you have that kind of patience. All you can really say for a fact is that you need to hurry and grab some of these before the prices get silly, and get a bunch of them if you can.
The item in question is the Haunted Memento that drops from the mobs at the crystals during the scourge invasion event. The mementos are unique, so you can’t carry more than one, but they don’t soul-bind, so you can transfer them around all you want one at a time. The item even works a bit like the heavy leather ball in that you can throw it at other players to haunt them. But you don’t want to give this one away.
Prices for the haunted memento are already climbing close to 100g on some servers. In six months it will be 500g or more. Since there may never be another chance for anyone to get their hands on these ever again, this is really a one-time opportunity to turn a basically worthless item into big gold later down the road.
It will be one of those vanity things that everyone wishes they had kept, and the ghost following you around is just pretty cool - IF you can get your hands on the haunted memento and keep the thing.
That’s where you come in. Offer to buy these from anyone you can, buy them on the AH when possible, beg, borrow, cheat, steal to get as many as you can and then flip them back and forth between your mule and your banker in the mail for a long as you can stand it.

If you want to get multiple “Haunted Momento’s” and have only one toon (laugh), simply put the one you have in the AH for a rediculous amount of gold and go farm another. Quickly, you only have 1 day left!
Take DYS advice and make a banker. You can have a ton in the mail waiting for pick up.
I think you will have until Wrath comes out, or the invasion stops. It’s not part of the hallowed end world event.
I just picked up 2 in AH for 10g each. Sent one to an active toon (so I can see the effect, if any) and put the other in the bankers bank.
Is it unique to the bank too? If not, then just bank them…

Get in on this while you still can guys and gals they are already selling for between 600 gold and 9001 gold on the Burning Legion server
These can be stored in a guild bank tab. the (Unique) only applies to a player, however a guild bank has no character ID so the Unique portion of the conditionality returns false. Enabling you to store lots of these in a guild bank, as many people do I have my own bank character with 5 tabs in its own guild bank. if your going to be flipping these things around in the mail for a year or, it will work out cheaper to buy a bank tab.

This can be done with any Unique item which doesn’t bind, Unadorned Seal of Ascension for example.
I dont believe that buying a bank tab would be worth hold onto these. You would have to have 3334+ of them to make this an economic choice. A few quick calculations show this.
100 x 1000 = 1000000 ( the x1000 is there to make the value from 100g - 1000000c)
6 (the amount of months recommended in the article)
50(the amount, in copper, to deliver a message containing one attachment. I don’t remember if this exactly, but to what i remember it was 30c to originally send any message, and another 20c per attachment.)
and so: 50*6 = 300 (the amount of copper it would take per Momento for 6 months, assuming you pulled it and resent it on the 30th day every time as would be expected)
1000000/300 = 3334, rounded up for scenario (The amount of slots your guild bank would have to have to be considered economical for your purpose, assuming you had that many Haunted Momentos.)
Nice, thunderlord is selling them in the AH for 30g a piece, two of them going for 500g though
Yunno I love DYS, its helped make me a massive amount of gold…but i really have my doubts about these things.
Yeah you cant get it ever again after the event…but you cant get like rogue posion materials anymore and i wouldnt have advised anyone to stock up on those before the patch.
Perhaps its biggest flaw is unless you throw it to someone its always hidden…and if you throw it to someone then they can keep it heh.
Still I have faith, so i have bought 5 of em for around 50g each. I would be very suprised if their price on my server ever goes much above 100g but fingers crossed!
This one kinda begs a question…has Gavin ever given advice/tip such as this one and it not come to fruition as projected?
On my server (dalaran) they are only 15-30g, so i grabed all i could, hopefully this will bounce me back up after my account got hacked and i was robed and left with 20 copper..
Ah my apologies, was late when i posted…I didnt realise that you get a shade kinda pet following you around, thus making these things pretty awesome. Its basically a once only obtainable vanity kinda pet that isnt soulbond!!!
Will def sell for very high price in the future.Its not the kind of item where you could sell hundreds of them easily but its just the kind of thing collectors love to get their hands on. If I didnt have one personally then I would quite happily pay 1k for it a month down the line

I saw on a few websites that those memento’s will be needed by Death Knights down the line, but i am not sure whether thats true or not
It probably isnt true imo, simply because of the small drop rate (well from what i have experienced)… I only found one and i farmed enough for all 4 of the undead cleansing set. Imagine all the DKs that will be made as soon as wotlk comes out, then think about how many of these there are… But then again they could work in the same way as warlock dreadsteed mats for a special deathknight quest : o.
wow was just thinking… DUH… of course its a low drop rate when i already have one of them in my inventory -.- oops

Since I saw the post above about storing them in the guild bank, we will probably set a small corner in the Dominate GB for these if anyone wants to donate for the guild. I personally have about 5 already floating in between alts
Hey well i bought so far 20 of these 30-50g a piece how much you think they will go for in 2months i prob cant wait 6 beleive it or not
30 or 50g each.. my server is still low, the highest i saw was 15g
These are now selling in AH on my server for 300g each! Unless something unexpected happens (like they keep on dropping) they will indeed be worth very large amounts of gold in the future.

The prices on my server remain low despite me trying to buy them up and re post them for higher prices, the prices hang at around 40g, and I bought mementos for about 20g-50g. Just my experience, no money yet, but I have hope still! dont let me down DYS!
I’ve farmed over 20 of these in the last few days (just 30 min here and there), and keep them stored in my personal guild bank. Three days ago these were selling for 20-40g, and have since sky-rocketted to 800-1000g a piece - Khaz Modan server.
@nathan , they are still dropping for christ sakes, give it a COUPLE MONTHS.. he didnt say ‘buy em now, and repost right now on AH’..

If you want something now to sell to the collectors buy up whelplings and repost. Did that yesterday, bought an Azure one for 1000g sold for 1600g an hour later. Pet collectors are going insane getting the 50 pets required to get stinker the skunk reward for achieving 50 pets. Now is the time to collect on any rare drop pet.
