Tenris Mirkblood And His Axe
Posted on October 27th, 2008 by Gavin under General TipsThere are a number of special bosses in instances throughout Azeroth during the zombie invasion event, but the new face is Tenris Mirkblood. Ok, it’s not a pretty face, but new is always a good thing. We wanted to give you Kara capable folks a few pointers on this guy since he will only be around for a few more days.
Tenris resides in the servant’s quarters of Karazhan. He’s not that difficult to kill if you know what to expect, and you also get a shot at grabbing some loot from Atuumen as well on the way. So get up a group, get yourselves to Kara, and go Dominate this guy.
Fight your way through Atuumen, and then clear the room with the repair guy and head upstairs. Clear all the mobs around the large circle in the tower there so you have plenty of room to move - you’ll need it to take most of the pain out of the Tenris encounter.
Once all the trash is out of the way, open the kitchen door and Tenris will pop out ready to suck your blood. He even looks a little batty. Tenris uses two special abilities that can be a bit of a pain, but are fairly easy to counter.
The first is a soul link. He will attach himself to one of your party members with a bright red ribbon of light. When he does this, stop all damage on Tenris. Any DPS aimed at him will also damage your party member. A few crits on Tenris and you lose one of your buddies, so be quick with that escape key.
Next, there will be a lot of little red, floating, glowing orbs that spawn during the fight. Stay away form them and everything is good. Get in the middle of a bunch of them = bad. So what you need to do is keep Tenris moving around the circle from room to room. By the time you make a complete circuit, the orbs will be gone. Keep him moving and you’ll be ok.
Tenris has a very small loot table. He drops a bat non-combat pet for every party member. (Nice if you’re trying to hit the pet collection achievement and don’t want to buy all of them). He can drop badges, and he has an axe called the Arcanite Ripper. The ripper is a two hander, that also double as an air guiter - erh, axe guitar, steel guitar… Anyway, if you can equip this thing, you can right click it to be transformed into an undead and get a little guitar jamming animation sequence complete with guitar riffs everyone around you can hear.
So pick up the quest for this in EPL at Light’s Hope and then get your team to Kara right away and get your bats. That’s not the only loot we picked up last night doing this run, but we’ll tell you more about that in the next post. Until then, make plans to go and Dominate this dude.

so kool!! gonna try this out. If only I were 70 lol
from waht Ive heard iots not too hard. I’m trying to get my guild to groupm for Kara but were all a big bunch of lazy F***ers which is fair enough. That axe btw is THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER!!!!!. Seriously If u can get this its instant godship from every1. you can stand in IF or Org all day long and entertain yourself with the whispers from edvery1 else around. Its my aim..
According to a blue post on the blizz boards this guy is only up for 10 days. So be sure to complete this week before he’s gone. He drops a awesome axe that when /used turns you into a rocking undead with a guitar. I think this is a wink and nudge to the level 70 Tauren Chieftain band.
My guild downed this guy last week at the end our our Kara run and there are a few things that will help you out to avoid the soul link. Abilities such as a pally’s bubble (on him/herself), a mage’s iceblock, a rogue’s vanish, any night elf’s shadowmeld, a hunter’s feign death, etc (there are probably a few more I’m not thinking of too) will all stop the soul link on a player. I believe he does a soul link every 30 seconds and it lasts a max of 15 seconds.. so any time you can get out of it will help you kill him faster.
Also, we tried several times to kite him around that circle but sometimes our tank didn’t back up right and got himself cornered instead of getting through the door. If you have any problems with that and can wait until you have at least cleared Moroes and the ballroom like we did, you can kite him through those rooms and it’s a lot easier for everyone to see exactly what’s going on and where the orbs are. We had a very happy hunter who is now rocking out on his new Ripper/Axe guitar
GL to all!
“Stay away form them and everything is good”
Typo
Thanks for this… we got completely lost, trying to go through the animal boss area, since we usually just head back to the stairs after Attumen and never go this way. Hehe.
it isn’t through the animal boss area, if u go to where the repair dude is near attumen and then go up those stairs, its 2 levels up, if you get to an area that looks like a kitchen, you’ve gone to far, back track and its at the closed door.
An alternative pull
If you do this boss there is a simple way to save your nerves and repair bill. Kill Morose and all of the preceding trash in the ballroom. Go from the banquette hall where you killed Morose threw the small side door into the servants’ quarters and pull from there. Simply keep falling back. This worked with my baby Paladin as the sole raid healer (and she has been in less than a dozen instances after hitting Outlands). Also consider completely halting all DPS while someone has the debuff. If you do that this boss will drop in the middle of the banquette hall with no problems at all.
Enjoy your new pet!
