Pets And Profits

Everyone is stoked with the new patch 3.0.2. Something new that blizzard specifically added was the achievements. The achievements is a new system that offers combined game content that players can earn by completing the selected field. This can range from doing a certain amount of quests to exploring the world of Azeroth, Outland, and soon Northrend.
What achievements offer is for players to get that complete feel of domination towards WoW, and it most certainly helps. What people really want to know is what does the achievement system have to offer?
Although most of the specific rewards are still unknown, the bounty of completing certain achievements will give each player the right to earn certain rewards and titles. For example, if you are rep’d (exalted) fully in all five major cities you will receive a special title for doing this. Another is if you collect 50 mounts you will receive a special mount.
We won’t know everything until the xpac comes out, but this is just a little taste of what to expect. What I want to tell you is a little secret I discovered with this new system.
One of the achievements available is to earn 50 pets. By doing this, players can earn a special pet when completed. Pets can be a pain to collect, but there are gamers out there that want to help their fellow man (what?), or profit themselves. Whatever you motive is this small guide will help!
High level players will pay anything to get what they want, when they want it and they want it right now. If it costs 50g for a pet, they will pay just that so they can complete their achievement list. Below are listed pets that you can obtain very easily, then turn around and sell them for a 1000% profit or more on the AH.
Ancona Chicken – This is sold by Magus Tirth in the shimmering flats. Not many people know about this guy and even more so, they don’t know he sells a pet. Both sides can obtain it easily. It costs 1g and I have sold them for 25g in the alliance ah. It may depend different on your server, no one may not be selling them at all. Take advantage and put it up for 50g, they will sell. Some may have already figured this out and the prices dropped to 10g. A 9g profit is still a big percentage and it adds up when you sell a lot of them.
This next strategy calls for having a toon on both horde and alliance sides. Saying this, pvp servers won’t be able to profit. Take your toon and buy up a bunch of the opposite server pets, such as cats in SW or dragonhawks at fairbreeze village. Then use the neutral AH and have your buddy buy them from your character. Check your ah and be prepared to make a lot of gold, chances are none will be listed allowing you to set the price.
On my server, the alliance AH are selling dragonhawks for 75g BO and there are not for sale yet at the AH. Even if people know how to obtain the opposite faction pets, they are still willing to pay a certain price just so they don’t have to hassle with the neutral AH exchange. So get those pets collected and dominate your AH with such a simple strategy yielding huge profits!
You can take a look at this page from Warcraftpets.com to see all 33 pets available from vendors. Stock up on these and sell them at the AH for a nice profit.

yea i went to booty bay and bot 3 dragon hawk hatchlings off the ah for a total of 5g and ended up selling them for 30g a piece
Ding — I have been funding my toon with kittens from SW on the neutral AH — 20g or more apiece.
i collect these pets (and already had 40+) and was very eager to hit the 50 cap when the achievement came out. of course the first thing i did after buying all the vendor pets i didn’t already have wa to hit the bootybay ah hoping for a few horde pets to finish off. all that were listed were two cats for 350g each. so, i bought 10 owls on my bank for 50s each and mailed them to booty bay; posted them for 50g each and two sold. the next day the ah was full of pets at 10g so i reposted the other 8 for that much and they all sold. 175g profit for two days of posting 10 pets – not bad. stinker rocks.
Hey, a problem with your article is: You can no longer buy Auctions from your own account. I used to do this with Throat Piercers in the Booty Bay AH, and you can’t do it.
Reading the article u will see that u require a “Friend” to complete the transaction…in other words u can’t buy it u’r self correct…..
It doesn’t HAVE to be a friend, you can do it if you have more than one account. This is also true for even bigger profits on PvP servers one ally and one horde toon can really rake it in.
Question- Are you saying that the combination of Mounts and pets needs to add up to 50 to get the proto-drake? I’m a little confused by the statement and have to confess I don’t know enough about it.
Pet and Mount achievements are separate. Each require you to get 50 though. If you get 50 mounts, you recieve an albino proto drake. If you get 50 pets you recieve Stinker, the pet skunk. I’ve seen about 10 people on my server with the white drake and I realllllllly want one.. however.. I don’t feel like shelling out thousands of gold to buy up all the other rep mounts to get it. The 50 pets I think would be very attainable and much easier on the bank. I’m at 35 pets right now and still getting more. Another less well known chicken pet is the Westfall chicken. If you go to Thottbot and look up the quest “CLUCK!” it will tell you all you need to know about how to get this cute little guy. A friend tipped me off to this and I’m so glad because I’d never in a million years think to do what you have to do to get the quest lol.
I rember that quest. it is really random.
Wow that was a fabulous tip. I just sold 14 Ancona Chickens that I paid a total of 14g for for 50g a piece! Haha someone will feel really stupid when they learn where they really came from. Thank you!
I’ve been doing GREAT with the SW Cats on both the Al & Neutral AH!!!! Made over 500g in 2 days just on cats alone!
I tried this. Went to the crazy cat lady and bought 16 cat crates, four of each type. I took these to BB and listed them on the neutral AH for 10g each.11 sold in less than 12 hours. 100g for next to no effort!
Hey thanks for the tips, I’m just wondering if people would buy simple pets in the same faction AH, say prairie dogs,snakes, or cockroaches, for more than 100% of the price as well…
yeah i have like 60-70 pets already i already got this 50 pet achievement then i been outa wow for about a month or 2 tho lol
i’m up to 65 pets now, Stinker is adorable!! i heard there was something special for attaining 75 vanity pets, but i haven’t gotten that far just yet. on a side note, in case anyone may have just not thought about it, each mount counts. i bought all 6 types of saber mounts in darnassus and that counted for 6 mounts. getting to 50 may not be as hard as you think.
I was cross faction trading pets a few weeks before the patch hit. Sadly now there are a few others doing it which has made the prices drop a bit.
Rather than use AH for the vendor sold pets, i just log my pet selling toon on once or twice a day and offer ‘Selection of 10 Alliance only sold vanity pets-100g’
Takes a few mins but I usually sell one or 2 sets.
If you got gold to invest, its well worth buying whelps,firefly and oozes to re-sell. Fireflys n oozes reguarly sell for 1k+ on my server but if you see someone selling one you can usually haggle then down to something nearer 750g. Dont be afraid to send the person in the AH a mail if they not online just politely asking if they can sell it cheaper.
Infact that tip works well for any item which costs hundreds+ of gold heh
