By no means do i try to hurry and level, and most of my characters go generally slowly, but much faster than my equally casual friends. It's because i basically always level with rest.

Now a question: Would leveling with 1 friend, without virtually any rest, still be faster than soloing?

Also what may slow me down is that i read all the quests (i enjoy lore and dispise questhelper)

1- having a 70 or at least some gold in the realm
5- Knowing what you are doing (where to go and when to go - what to kill how to kill)

These 2 are the most important factor to fast lvling.... (that's why we have Quest Helper  )

But it's the first time I heard ppl said no loot and no dg, 'cause there's some gap in lvling we need to grind, dungeons are great for that extra xp and great for gear, u just need a good group that willing to not stop and afk in the middle of it.

Well, when I lvl my hunter I did avoid most dg (Uld, Mara, DM, and all outland dg except Rampart...), not for fast record but just don't want to stop to wait for group.

I see the where you are coming from Lawbringer and Bam. I wasnt implying that the guild "limits" alts, i was trying to say that in order to keep things fair so everyone in the guild can have a raid spot, guildies are allowed ONE main character they can raid with and their alts can be brought in on off night raids or boss fights where mains dont need any gear from etc. That's just how things were for me.

Ive got 2 70s, a BT rogue who i raid with and a warlock that i PvP with and do the occasional raid/instance. With just these 2 70s, i find myself struggling to play both at frequent intervals. I may end up going for many days before i even log onto my warlock and i cant imagine how things would be like if i had 4+ alts.

Not trying to hate in this thread, just providing some perspective for people of what MAY happen if they go on to build multiple alts.

No it's not. Athene's technique is using an AoE 70 paladin to kill mobs in a dungeon and leave the dungeon right before the mobs die. You can take a lvl 10 to rfc. pull all mobs to the enterance with the 70 paladin, cast consecration, bubble the low lvl char and leave the instance. the lowbie will lvl up 5 times instantly. I already tried. You just need 2 accounts. It can be done up to lvl 50 dungeons. after that you need a team but technically you are doing the same thing.

It's really not that hard. With no lvling guide I level almost every class to 70 in 7-9 days played (not a paladin though). I also lvl up my professions and sometimes waste some time on things that lowers my lvling speed (like chatting or dungeons). All this is solo with almost no rested xp (except for the amount that i get for not playing my character when i want to sleep or go to work. I don't use rested xp technique at all).
I think with a hunter or lock I can make it to 70 in 5 days solo. Requirements are :
1- having a 70 or at least some gold in the realm
2- Not doing dungeons
3- Not leveling professions
4- Not looting
5- Knowing what you are doing (where to go and when to go - what to kill how to kill)

Actually Desian, the method they used was a little more sophisticated than that. What they did was run instances with a group of 4 70's and Athene in tow. The 70's were Kara+ geared so they could crush everything all the way through outlands instances with basically a party of 4.

This is the epitome' of powerleveling. They only did instance runs when Athene was in rest, crushed the runs for max xp per hour and then set to rest again. Using this method, travel time is at the barest minimum since one of the group members was a lock, so they were able to summon directly to the instance from the inn or city. Past that, you can do this without ever completing a single quest or killing a single mob.

XP in instances is based on Character level and mob level, not on how many toons are in the group or the levels of those toons (generally), so a level 12 toon in RFC is going to get roughly the same xp if the other 4 group members are level 70 or level 10.

It was a brilliant plan, but unless you can get 4 guys to commit to doing this for about 6 months, then it's not really reasonable. If we have people above having an issue finding one team member, it's probably not likely they will find 4 T5 guys to powerlevel them on their schedule.

I have been tempted to do a run using powerleveling with my two accounts to see how fast it would really be if you were doing it to your own toons by double boxing two accounts, but time has escaped me to do so for the time being.

The one thing that this thread has brought out is that even though millions of people have leveled in lots of different ways, there is no clearing house for information on the subject, so maybe we can get some volunteers to help us out collecting some data on how the different methodologies actually work.

The record is like 1 day 15 hours but that's using 1 guy ungrouped and a group of 5 guys where the 1 guy tags them then the group kills them and he gets full exp as long as the monster they killed is green to them it's what Athene did.
