Screenshot Contest – Midsummer Festival
Posted on July 1st, 2008 by Lawbringer under World of WarcraftThe end of the midsummer festival is fast approaching. We certainly hope everyone has read our tips on leveling and maximizing your gold earnings during the festival. Also, if you haven’t done so already you really should take a shot at Ahune and go get yourself some great loot!
At the end of the midsummer festival on July 4th there is a special event. The goblins of undermine set off a fireworks show that is said to light the very sky on fire. Appropriate that this should be on July 4th – you’ll just have to pardon Blizzard for being an American company.
What we want you to do is get your very best screen-shots of the fireworks event and send them to editor@dominateyourserver.com
We’ll give everyone until Sunday night at midnight on July 6th to get creative with those shots. As you’ve seen from our writing contest, we have some pretty talented people that visit Dominate Your Server, so pop those screenies into Photoshop and show us all how it’s really done.
We’ll collect all the entries and post them next Monday and let the entire DYS community vote on their favorites through the end of the week by posting comments stating which picture is the absolute best. The winner will recieve a $50.00 gift certificate to Amazon.com and an autographed photo of our main man – Gavin himself! Well the autographed photo is probably not going to happen, but you’ll definitely get the $50 card! ![]()
So be sure you’re logged in for the fireworks, get those screenshots in interesting locations, buff them up and shoot them to us. We’re all looking forward to see how you can dominate artistically!

So we can use Any form of Photoshop? And when does this end.
I know I’m more creative in Photoshop then with writing and grammar.
Jarrod,
You don’t really need to Photoshop them – this is a screenshot contest, so just a plain screenshot will do. However, if you want to embellish a bit with PS, then you’re free to.
Entries must be received by midnight July 6th (the event happens on the 4th)

You don’t even have to use Photoshop if you don’t have that program. Feel free to use any image editing software you like. The screenshot at the top of this article was merely cropped and sized to be web friendly.
I would be nice if you could keep the file size under 100k, but we’re not going to give anyone a big list of rules here. Like the article says, just get your shots turned in before midnight on the 6th, then we’ll give everyone here at the site a week to vote. Pretty simple.
I am baffled by your comment “you will have to pardon Blizzard for being an American company”. I don’t pardon them, I applaud them! I am an American and proud of it, and wonder why you would make a comment like that at a time like this?
You may be very shocked to find this out, but not everyone in the world is american! scary huh?
Peyana – Wow… talk about misconstruing something.
The actual quote is: “Appropriate that this should be on July 4th – you’ll just have to pardon Blizzard for being an American company.”
Let’s break that down…
“Appropriate that is should be on July 4th”
We believe it is appropriate for the fireworks display to be on July 4th.
“you’ll just have to pardon Blizzard for being an American company.”
If you have any beef with Blizzard having a fireworks display on July 4th, because it happens to be America’s birthday, then DEAL WITH IT, because Blizzard is an American company.
You’re looking for anti-Americanism where there is none, Peyana… I recommend you reduce your Red Bull intake.

I apologize if it sounded as if I was overacting. I guess I completely misunderstood your meaning and took it wrong. I really appreciate the information you guys put together for us and guess I was having a bad hair day. Please accept my sincere apologies for misconstruing what you said completely.
Apology happily accepted, Peyana
im the pvp god!
