A couple of things you could do is instead of putting 2 in unyielding faith you can add those to improved seal of righteousness. I don't spec full holy cause its to hard to pass up on the sancity aura, i mean 10% increased holy damage?!?!? come on take that. the only problem you'll have is 100% clear casting. because their may be times where you have to get the heal in, just watch your health and swith to concentration aura if you have to heal badly. use holy shock every time you possibly can. holy shock will be your strongest attack and your second strongest will be judgement of righteousness. you should use judgement of righteousness because you hit quick and every hit you get a good amount of holy damage in. the best gear for shockadin would probaly gear lamallar gear for pvp. i've seen people pve with this, but i dont recomend it. they only pulled about 1.5k dps, and went oom way to fast. shockadin is fully dependent on mana. you run out of mana=you lose, its that simple. the only class i have problems with is holy/disc priests... mana burn ftl. the only way i have come up is stun them do as much damage as possible. let them get their metallic scream in, damage them as much as possible and when they metallic scream again bubble and that will be your time to hopefully kill. this technique doesnt work that much, but its the only one i have so far. and if your a Belf pally like me silence them before they mana burn you. i do not claim to be a expert in any kind, im just throwing my opinion out there. i would like comment on my build tho.

I have heard so much talk about shockadin, but have never seen a spec for it. I leveled my pally 1-67 as holy, which was painful, but I didn’t know any better. I played 67-70 still spec’d holy, but using more AOE and crusader. With thoughts of rolling a horde pally, does anyone have a solid spec for playing a shockadin?

I will have to disagree with your build Jared. Without Blessing of Wisdom, my Retadin wouldnt even have mana regeneration to speak of so I wouldnt even consider using Improved blessing of might. I would call Divine Purpose a loss as well seeing as -10% on critical damage only won’t save your life. Why not improved Sanctity Aura?

I see alot of harshness about Ret Paladins. Honestly, a strikadin can annihilate in DPS. I went to kara with my brother a little while back. He's played all 3 specs of pally through kara, but was putting together his ret set at the time. He was 3rd on the damage list, and he got taken out by a very unlucky enfeeble and an infernal dropping right on his head in the first 30 seconds of the Prince battle. I've personally seen him deal 9000 damage in about 2 seconds (yes, it was an unbelievably lucky string of Crit Crusader Strike, white crit, SoComm proc crit, and a proc off his Despair, but we're still talking about damage capability here). A ret pally can easily march through any class you put them against. While they might have weaknesses, so does every other class. I would MUCH rather have a ret pally than an MS warrior. A healadin is, by far, the best single target healing class in game. A tankadin can't even hope to loose against a melee class of any kind, and holds aggro like a champ in any number of situations. A ret pally has the burst DPS that makes them ungodly dangerous. They can't keep up their DPS nearly as well as a rogue or fury warrior can, of course not. But that doesn't make their DPS inferior. If you have an easy time walking over a ret pally, it's because the player doesn't know how to really play their class. Gear makes a difference, but a skilled player behind the keyboard has a bigger effect on how effective the character is. As for a ret build that works well for PvE and PvP, personally I like this one for Blood Elves http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sxZZEfcxGcuVIst If you are an alliance ret pally, you have to drop a point for Seal of Command. Personally, I'd drop one from Divine Purpose. This setup gives you some decent mana efficiency, as well as damage. It also makes crits against you less painful, and in the case of casters, makes them pay for the damage they deal to you. There are some issues in the PvE department (no Precision, so you'll need more Hit Rating on your raiding gear, for example). There's always some sacrifices that need to be made if you want to be viable for two areas of the game, afterall.

My ret pally can kill almost anything in pvp and you dont exactly need very good gear to kill if you know how to play a retadin…

servos just stop pls just stop. it’s very rare that i am not the top on dmg done in a bg. also i am top or very close to top dmg in all my arena teams. i 2v2 with a warlock in full season 3 except the shoulders, and i run in a melee only 5v5 and stay close to the top of the dmg meters while spot healing so to say the class is the worst dps or second worse is just showing how little you know about the game. gear and skill make or break the player not the class.
so to be brutally honest servos your post made me lol irl.

To be brutally honest, pallys are probably the worst (or second worse, behind oomkin) in pvp dps. Lot’s of people say, “well, if they have gear, they’re good” and yes…but everything is good with gear, and with the same level of gear as a ret pally, everything else is better

A very nice post.

People are walways going to disagree on certain points due to personal experience and use of different gear.

A point i would make: Spec retri from 10-30; Then respec prot till you hit the top level. Why? Prot is much faster through the leveling stages due to mass group aoe. Although when you are retri you can down mobs pretty quick and easy, it’s nothing to tanking 5-10 mobs down at a time with ease. The amount of down time is also dramaticly reduced, especially when you get into plate. You can take about 4-5 groups containing 5 mobs in each without having to eat or drink.

It’s also great fun dinging after pulling 5 mobs your level, aoe’ing them down with the help of lay on hands part way through.
