Dailies, Primals and Gold!
Posted on June 9th, 2008 by Raknathal under Efficiency Tips, Gold FarmingIn patch 2.4.0, a lot of new daily quest content was added. These daily quests; when fully unlocked, yield around 200 gold and about 3150 Shattered Sun Offensive Rep. Yet if someone told you you could make more without going anywhere, would you do it? There are primal farming spots right inside the areas where you complete daily quests, and they have surprisingly better drop rates than the other areas!
Bash’ir Landing: Probably one of the most least liked quests is the mana cell quest. Phasing out of the current area into a wyrm-ridden area, while picking up these little tiny mana cells that aren’t really all that easy to see either, who would expect that the phase wyrms would be a great primal mana farming spot? I researched this spot to find out the exact drop rate. I ended killing up to 104 phase wyrms in an hour, and I got 51 motes of mana and various other vendor trash. That’s 5 primals in an hour. So what do you do the next time you finish this quest? Just stay phased and keep on farming!
Throne of Kil’Jaeden: The two daily quests here are really interesting in design but are so far apart from all the others that half the time they are just skipped due to laziness (even I skip them sometimes). Yet this spot has something that should not be overlooked either. The Incandescent Fel Sparks drop motes of fire more than any other mob in the game. Now farming these were tough, due to the people doing dailies, so I was only able to kill 64 of the Incandescent Fel Sparks in my allotted hour of time, but I got 33 motes of fire. Three primal fires in an hour is a good deal to me. So next time you see someone running to tag a Fel Spark, don’t say to yourself, “Eh, ill still get quest credit if I’m close enough.” Say, “I have to get that spark; it might have motes on it!”
Oshu’gun: I have not tested this one myself, so I am taking the word of my guild mates and friends when I that Oshu’gun yielded a lot of useful items aside from just doing the multiphase survey quest. Herbalists lose out on this, but skinners and miners excel with this tip. As you’re doing the multiphase survey, go out of your way to kill the mobs nearby. Not only will you complete the multiphase quest, but you’re getting the quest for gathering done as well. All the roaming Clefthoof can be skinned to yield the Nether Residue needed, and also Nagrand is well known for ore deposits being everywhere. Also taking a whack at the Voidspawn in the area isn’t such a bad idea either. They currently have the highest known drop rate for motes of shadow. So Oshu’gun leads multiple money gains from doing two daily quests in the area.
These are three locations where farming is overlooked. There are probably more. Next time you are doing dailies and need every ounce of money you can get…save time by just stopping by at one spot and farming. You will be shocked at how high some of the drop rates are for some guys. I myself have done all the dailies and have realized from doing nothing extra that I have 3 primals in my bags, which on the Auction House can easily add up to a hefty sum.

Don’t for get about all the fire ele’s that spawn in Org’rila
being that everyone always goes north….In the south Region there are soo many fire ele’s that u MUST kill them in order to complete u’r Demons daily. Motes of fire aplenty and no competition for dailies, sounds like a keeper for me. Also the Robots that need to be changed in Shattered Sun also have a nice Mote of mana drop rate….Have fun! …..=P
A good spot for primal water is the lake near Shattrath City. The eels there have a really good drop rate for the motes, and will often drop more than one at a time. And at level 70, you can slaughter them easily (you should be able to kill several at a time). I’ve noticed that the primal waters tend to sell for a bit less than the others on AH (on my server at least), but the ease with which you can farm these bad boys should make up for it.
one of the easiest things 2 farm r motes of water in the lake just outside Shatt. ; ) Plus ur close 2 ur hearth point.
I find a better drop rate for primal shadow out at void ridge in Hellfire Peninsula, the elementals are low level, respawn quickly and have a decent drop rate. I spent about 5 hours there to get 24 primal shadow for some crafted items.
From i’ve read & tried myself personally the best spot for farming primal waters is the lake at Skettis.
I also get a better drop rate from the voidspawn in hfp for motes of shadow.
From my experience a herbalist can get an excellent drop rate on motes of life in the Dead Mire of Zangamarsh, not only do the mobs drop them but a herbalist can also farm the bodies for extra motes.
The skettis lake has tons of water elementals. With my lock I can farm at least 6 primals an hour here. Its nice to have under water breathing. Just stay under water the whole time and go in a big circle.
hi im a lvl 21 rogue do you have any places where i could train good and a good place to train for a lvl 15, hunter?
Hi. Another great spot for Primal Fire is the Fel Pits in Shadowmoon Valley. It’s not to far off from the Daily where you have to go and get the At’amal Armaments to purify them on the Isle of Quel’Danas, and the Enraged Fire Elementals have a decent drop rate most of the time. There are also Enraged Earth Elementals there that drop Motes of Earth, but I’m not to sure on how good the drop rate is due to the fact that i currently have no need for Primal Earth/Motes of Earth and don’t want to spend my time on farming something I don’t really need.
Phase wyrms are also skinnable.
I decided to test out the Phase Wyrms in Blade’s Edge last night after reading this article and I was really happy with the results. I was grinding there for 1 hour 47 minutes total and what I receive is:
14 Primal Mana - 20-22 gold each on my server
8 greens which yielded 2 Greater Planar Essence (9 gold each) and 18 Arcane dust (1-3 gold each depending on the day)
18 stacks of grey crystals (2.4g each to vendor).
That gives me a total (including payout for the daily quest in the same area) of 359 - 425 gold depending on how I much I sell the primals and enchanting mats for. I’ll most likely hold them until S4 starts and sell them for 2x the worth listed above which will put me more around 800-900 gold for my 1 hour 47 minutes of grinding.
Also - for those of you talking about farming Primal Water, I suggest getting your fishing skill to 375 if it isn’t already. At slow hours on my server I can fish 8-10 primal water in an hour in Nagrand and Terrokar Forest from “Pure Water”.
Through Primal farming i found great spot for primal lifes. In zangarmarsh there is a spot between the spawning glen and quagg ridge that 5-7+ mobs of starving giants and bog lords cross the road in about 30-45 mins ive gottens close to 7 primal lifes. Great spot or what
add to my last post Primal lifes on Khadgars AH where in higher 20g to lower 30g on ea primal life
Ok so I was out testing grounds for Primal life farming and found great spot. There is a great spot in Zangermarsh between The spawning glen and Quagg ridge where the starving giants and bog lords cross the road in mobs the size of 5-7+ got almost 7 primal lifes in about 30-45 mins. Primal Lifes on Khadgars AH where goin for about 26-32g ea. this on Alliance side not sure how much on horde side. But its easy at the spot u just stand there the mobs come to you.
Hey, for the primal water i find the best place to be just a little bit north from Garadar in Nagrand. If u got mining u can get Adamintite deposites (spawns in 2 different spots in water) and if your lucky u get rich ones. I spend an hour there every so often and get about 12-20 primals. (Great for warlocks like me cause u throw a few dots on and then throw more dots on another life tap and do again(assuming u have siphon life)) also greenies drop rate is nice and those grey gems sell for somewhere over 1g can’t remember the exact price at moment. Anyway on my server Gurubashi the primal water is selling for between 30-40g (horde) and i find this a GREAT place for farming gold!
